Review this source for notability. http://www.nolanchart.com/article4803.html It says Pekka-Eric Auvinen also posted one of his threats for the Jokela school shootingon4chan. --William Ortiz (talk) 22:23, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know, the post was a hoax that made it into some major newspaper's online version. The source website seems to allow anyone to write articles, so it should not be considered a reliable source. Prolog (talk) 23:30, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
One newspaper at least still has the article with the 4chan post online: http://www.dagbladet.no/nyheter/2007/11/07/517514.html However, I have seen it argued that the post shown there was actually posted after the shooting had appeared on the news. Jayen466 18:08, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Auvinen Mongolian?

[edit]

I have a hard time to believe that Auvinen was "born to parents at least of some Mongolian origin[14], hence his visible Mongolian traits".

Does anyone have any more information about this? What does the referenced article actually say? He was much more likely of Sami descent.--Dblk (talk) 15:46, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have not seen, heard and/or found any Finnish article about the subject. The paper version of "Kainuun Sanomat" is not available for me, but I doubt the reference. I suggest someone can remove it. Peltimikko (talk) 19:31, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"Visible Mongolian traits" was a claim made against Finns in general by the Nazi eugenicists. Boom. --Kizor 11:15, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the proposal was move. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 10:04, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Jokela school massacreJokela school shooting — Back to Jokela school shooting, as it was moved without discussion. Further, this is the term used in the official report. (Lord Gøn (talk) 01:27, 12 June 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Eric Harris website reference

[edit]

I tagged a source at the end of the Jokela school shooting#Videos and writings section, from the Belfast Telegraph, which says『The KMFDM track used in his video, “Stray Bullet”, was also used on the website of Columbine shooter Eric Harris.』The problem is twofold. The link is no longer available to check and the Harris website from 1999 was a very basic, rudimentary site that did not have sound files included. Harris was a fan of KMFDM, he did reference their song lyrics, but I am skeptical regarding the statement that the track itself was available on the site. I couldn't verify that through any sources I found besides websites that contain copies of this article. This should probably be removed or reworded and cited to an available source. Thanks. Wildhartlivie (talk) 06:37, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Own page for Auvinen

[edit]

I think it's pretty clear that he's well-known and influential enough to have an own page. Opinions? His views and where he clearly was wrong would be good to be shown in a better way. Steamsauna (talk) 07:22, 11 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Own page for a school shooter is probably a bad idea, but I still think it would be reasonable to explain where he was wrong in his thinking (social darwinism (explaining its flaws shortly), some people being significantly smarter/stronger than others, belief that smart people would start some kind of revolution to get to a Platon-type society). At least these come to my mind, but I don't remember all he said. Adding these would probably decrease the chance of other social darwinists doing these shootings. Steamsauna (talk) 05:28, 1 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Photos of the victims and shooter

[edit]

There's a photo of the shooter posing with his gun but no photos of the victims anywhere. And people wonder why kids do this kind of crap. KevinLuna (talk) 01:14, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps you should have a look at this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Northern_Illinois_University_shooting#Photos_of_the_victims_and_shooter. It explains everything. Salamibears58 (talk) 01:29, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Auvinen's Father

[edit]

The Shooter's father is also active on the internets. He made a Youtube channel on which he has a memorial video to his son and also condemns the shooting in the channel description. He also showcases his music . Notable enough or not? Salamibears58 (talk) 01:34, 23 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, notable if it's featured in any media. Auvinen's parents appeared in Finnish television on MTV3 channel in 2008 and talked about the incident, that's mentioned in the Finnish Wikipedia. So surely things like that can be added to the article. --Pudeo' 02:07, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Causation

[edit]

A picture released by the Finnish National Police of his bedroom computer showed he created the "special circumstances" for Subliminal Distraction exposure. Over months he experienced the subliminal appreciation of threat from failed attempts to startle.

The problem is explained in first semester psychology lectures about peripheral vision reflexes, as a visual subliminal distraction. The mental break causing design mistake engineers discovered in 1964 takes the same name, Subliminal Distraction.

The Virginia Tech, Redlake tribal school, and Atlanta day trader killers all created the problem. Other mass shooters were students or had jobs (postal mail sorter), or activities (video game player)that would have allowed the same exposure.

College students are not warned about it so that it happens when a student creates the design mistake where they study or use a computer. VisionAndPsychosis.Net argues it is the long sought cause of college suicides.

I own the copyright for VisionAndPsychosis.Net. The Wayback Machine will show it is a 12 ear investigation of Subliminal Distraction.

Assessment comment

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Jokela school shooting/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

This is a current event, which occured at 2007-11-07. It is far away from the "stub" status as it's sourced, but since the appearance of new sources and major disputes, it doesn't quality for B-class yet.

Super Columbine Massacre RPG!

[edit]

In one of the recent edits, it cites Auvinen as playing Super Columbine Massacre RPG! Im guessing the source is from the Dillion Cossey article but in that one you have to pay to read it, can anyone (or the person that included the edit) confirm if the article spefically said Pekka did play it? Or did it say Dillion played it? PopulationBirthControl (talk) 01:46, 10 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
