opinion[edit]

the article looks fine structure/ subsections are fine. Will you mention mining as one of the activities in the area? I've added a photo from lake Johnston which with lake hope would be the largest area of salt lakes in the region, please remove the image if it not. Gnangarra 14:13, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comments and image. I've broken land use out into a separate section, and, yes, I would like to mention mining. What've you got? Hesperian 00:20, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Try these two

From what I can tell from a rough examination, Lake Johnston, the Lake Johnston Greenstone Belt, and specifically the Emily Ann and Maggie Hays nickel mines, are just over the northern border in the Coolgardie (biogeographic region). :-( I'll confirm on the full size map tonight; if so, then your Johnston image will have to be saved for the Coolgardie article. Hesperian 04:31, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reality is always as complicated as it can be. On my massive map of Beard's regions, the border between Mallee and Coolgardie appears to pass through Lake Johnston. But the IBRA 5.1 spec says of Mallee that: "the northern end of this region has been transferred from Coolgardie to include woodland and lake systems, Salmon Gum and Mallee woodland". (My emphasis) Presumably, then, Lake Johnston is just inside the Mallee border. But I still have no idea where the greenstone belt is. I'll ask Rolinator.
Meanwhile, I've added to the further reading section a couple of papers that appear to suggest there has been coal mining in the region. I should be able to get my hands on one of them on Monday.

List of these guys:[edit]

E. de C. Clarke and the other notables who appear throughout our pages, but don't have a page yet. The geographical section of this page coud be simplified by the addition of a ... um, nevermind. Fred 07:20, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Will get to Clarke eventually. If you want to make a start, there's some information here. Are you asking for a list of notable people in WA natural history that don't have a Wikipedia article yet? Hesperian 11:33, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well proposing it. Looks fine here btw. Fred
Cheers; I'll have a think about a list. Hesperian 12:31, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
