Michael Petry edits[edit]

I am Michael Petry and have recently tried to make factual changes and if this is the cause of your banner headline perhaps someone can contact me to verify what I have changed. Dr Michael Petry — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mpetrylondon (talkcontribs) 12:10, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I tagged it because it has way too many external links, appears to be promotional, and in general reads more like someone's resume than an encyclopedia article. - MrOllie (talk) 14:00, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That said - it says you want external sources to verify the content and I thought that is what is there as external links - they provide additional information and confirmation as to the veracity of the article — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mpetrylondon (talkcontribs) 16:07, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It states as Reliable Sources: Wikipedia articles should be based on reliable, published sources; and, all majority and significant minority views that appear in these sources should be covered by these articles (see Wikipedia:Neutral point of view). The word "source" as used on Wikipedia has three related meanings: the piece of work itself (the article, book), the creator of the work (the writer, journalist), and the publisher of the work (for example The New York Times, Cambridge University Press, etc.).

Here we have listed all the ISBN's made links to the Publishers or Museums where exhibitions are located etc - what do you actually want then? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mpetrylondon (talkcontribs) 16:10, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What you are missing is that sources must be third-party to be reliable. We need something like a newspaper, not something like a link to a publisher's web site. - MrOllie (talk) 16:14, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Do you mean that for all the many books and exhibitions you want me to ADD more links i.e to 3rd parties like review - this is easily done but won't you be even more annoyed that there are more external links.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mpetrylondon (talkcontribs) 16:23, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No, we don't want to see reviews of your work. This is a biographical article, so we need to see independent sources for /biographical/ information. Interviews, a biographical profile, and so on. - MrOllie (talk) 16:39, 19 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
