No, it was not copied from somewhere. I condensed the Advisory Report (~5 pages) which is abailable on the world heritage web page (whc.unesco.org) and actually took care not to plagiarize. I probably should have indicated the source - sorry for that. Here it is: http://whc.unesco.org/archive/advisory_body_evaluation/211rev.pdf

"Breathtakingly located" is maybe POV - I agree. But the pictures I have seen are pretty much breathtaking. But I'll take it away, no problem. Luis rib 01:03, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)

"In 2006, along with continued efforts to preserve the Minaret, UNESCO teamed up with the newly elected Afgan government and the local women of the Shahrak District in selling "Minaret Jam" throughout the European Union. The apricot plum blend claims 93% of sales goes directly to the Minaret's preservation." Did anyone else pick up on this obvious BS? • • Apparently this is named after the Jam River, but that doesn't seem to have an article. I am interested in the origin of the toponym "Jam."     • The name of the minaret is pronounces as "Jaam" and it means "cup" in Farsi/Dari. It's the same Jaam used in Jaam-e Jam, meaning "Cup of Jamshed". It has nothing to do with the English word jam. In Farsi/Dari literature, the word "Jaam" ("Jam" in this case) is used a lot, particularly in the poetries of Haafiz.--220.244.44.112 (talk) 08:48, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Minaret of Jam is covered in text, can anyone translate it? I am led to believe the text advocates good relations between Muslims and other Abrahamic religions, and I think noting what the text says anyway would be useful for the article. 81.97.96.95 (talk) 18:54, 13 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It has been discovered that this book:

• Gupta, Om. Encyclopaedia of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Gyan Publishing House, 2006. ISBN 8182053897, 9788182053892.

Contains significant amounts of material plagiarized from Wikipedia articles. (Some other books from the same publisher also have this problem). There is no practical way of determining which material came from Wikipedia, and which came from other sources. Further, widespread plagiarism is an indication of poor scholarship. For those reasons, and according to Wikipedia policy, WP:CIRCULAR, I will deleting all citations to the book. However I will not delete the material that cites it, as there's no indication that the material is inaccurate.
