Renaming article to Mount Haku

[edit]

I propose we rename this article to Mount Haku. San in the name Hakusan obviously denotes mountain. See the naming guidelines in Wikiproject Mountains. Any objections?imars (talk) 11:27, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I started the page without thinking of the proper name and I totally support the change. Douggers (talk) 11:39, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I guess this is like 5 years after the fact, but if the naming conventions are that it should be the most commonly used name for the mountain, shouldn't we go with Mt. Hakusan? Don't think I've ever heard Mt. Haku in English. It also seems like UNESCO uses Mount Hakusan in the one of the sources, so, personally, I'd feel more inclined to go with "Hakusan" rather than "Haku." Odds are decent that there's an official translation according to the prefecture or some other government entity, and I feel like the best thing would be go stick to that if we can dig it up. Mt. Hakusan would be redundant. To give you some perspective you could imagine someone being called "Dr. Doctor Smith" (Where "doctor" in this instance is not his name.)63.155.61.10 (talk) 04:12, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not the tallest mountain in Hokuriku

[edit]

In the outline section, it says that it's the tallest mountain in the Hokuriku region, and so it has snow on it longer. However, Tateyama in Toyama, also Hokuriku, is taller, so this is false. I'm going to change it to say "because it is so high," unless anyone has a reason not to. Whitneyzac (talk) 07:18, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
