Hmm, I never noticed this before but the title of the article sounds weird. How about "Ottoman Cyprus" or "Ottoman rule of Cyprus"? Or something... Baristarim02:44, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If the transition of Cyprus from Ottoman Turks is correct then why did Cyprus become Britains' 1st May 1925. In fact you will find that the UK had garrison in Cyprus from 1878 but the ottoman's retained administrative control. My great grandfather was imprisoned in the castle at Kyrenia by the British as were a number of other prominent Turkish Cypriots during World War 1. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.97.216.21 (talk) 23:47, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I oppose the proposed merge. This article addresses the Ottoman invasion of Cyprus, as well as life during the Ottoman occupation of the island and its people. It was originally named differently but its title was altered here by a user who was later blocked indefinitely as a sock puppet. Although the sock puppet was blocked his/her change was not reverted and lives on by the title "Ottoman Cyprus". To me, the proposed merge with "Cyprus Eyalet" is a continuation from where the sock puppet reached. Shouldnt the person suggesting the merge/title change provide an excuse for his/her suggestion? Lastly, its weird that the proposed merge is with an article that the sockpuppet himself created here. 23x2 (talk) 12:09, 3 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
"By 1970, ethnic Turks represented 18% of the total population of the island, with ethnic Greeks representing the remainder" -- Umm, hello? What about Armenians, Maronites, Latins? 207.38.251.189 (talk) 07:25, 29 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The lede and the infobox say that this is about the eyalet of Cyprus, but the social section and the sections on the Greeks are about a different era. Is this article supposed to be about Ottoman Cyprus, which in some form or other continued to exist down to 1914 or is it about the eyalet, which was subsumed into the eyalet of the Archipelago?
