Assessment Report[edit]

  1. The article needs to be massively expanded.
  2. It should make use of sections.
  3. Photos need to be added.
  4. References and Citations are crucial for wikipedia, and so these must be added as the article is expanded. Make sure that as many as possible are "in-line" citations.(See WP:References, WP:V, and WP:CITE for guidance.)

Untitled[edit]

Most of these issues have been addressed with the exception of References. More work required to elevate it to B-class, so i have demoted those projects which had erroneously been assessed as B-class.Petebutt (talk) 13:49, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Frank Davison[edit]

I've come across an aerodrome called "Hooton" in Ann Davison's autobiographical book Last Voyage. According to her account, her husband Frank Davison "was the owner and manager of an aerodrome, Hooton in Cheshire, the owner of a fleet of aircraft and the director of several aviation companies and incidentally of various non-flying concerns." (p. 9) "Hooton aerodrome was situated on the Cheshire side of the River Mersey, with a road and the Manchester Ship Canal between it and the river. (...) It had once been parkland, part of the estate of Hooton Hall, a long-vanished but vast residence in its day. (...) I am not certain of the chronological order of events, but at one time Hooton was a race-course. (...) Then at another time it was a sort of horse sports-ground, where polo was played in the summer, and obstacles erected for horsemen to overcome in pursuit of hounds and a drag in winter. It was first made into an aerodrome during world war one when the hangars were built, and it was used as a training-ground. Government interest lapsed after the war ended and the R.A.F. moved out (...) a polo club was formed, and eventually a civilian flying club (...) Frank [Davison] took over in 1934." (p. 15/16)

This sounds like the same aerodrome even though Hearn is never mentioned in the book and Davison never mentioned in the article. Does anyone know more, incl. about Davison? --Ibn Battuta 04:46, 17 June 2007 (UTC) PS: Could someone add the coordinates? Thanks.[reply]
