You are considered the top children experience in all that is Disney And now you are making the biggest mistake by listening to people that are trying to ruin our country. Walt Disney World will have a 5th theme park and a 6th theme park in the future. A 5th park called "Dark Kingdom" and a 6th park called "Princess Paradise". Walt Disney World is coming with Dark Kingdom and Princess Paradise. With Dark Kingdom and Princess Paradise, Walt Disney World Resort will expand from four to six theme parks.
Dark Kingdom: Disney historian Jim Hill told Thrillist back in late 2023 that. “The idea of the Dark Kingdom seems to have basically come from the internet, with no basis on anything concrete.” Well, well, well. The Dark Kingdom is coming to Walt Disney World Resort, meaning the long-awaited Disney Villains-centric theme park is going to be a reality. Not much is known about the Dark Kingdom, but two experiences have been confirmed. The Magic Kingdom may be eliminating Splash Mountain in favor of Tiana's Bayou Adventure (the new Frontierland attraction will open sometime this year), but the Dark Kingdom will bring a new mountain to the Disney World resort with Maleficent Mountain. Guests will board a dragon-themed vehicle to chase down King Stefan and Prince Philip in a thrilling adventure akin to Space Mountain. Joining Maleficent Mountain will be a boat ride called Journey to the Underworld. Here, guests will board boats and sail along the River Styx before meeting the god of the Underworld himself, Hades. This is described as a mix between Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean, two of Disney World's most popular rides. Concept art is to be shared soon by Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro. It is likely that the executive will use the four-day D23 Expo eventinAnaheim, California, to reveal more.
Princess Paradise: As for the sixth Disney park, the House of Mouse will expand the Disney Princess offering by bringing guests an entire park dedicated to these popular Disney characters. Princess Paradise is being kept relatively under wraps, but it can be expected that many of the princesses from the last century will appear at the park. From Snow WhitetoCinderella, TianatoMerida, and BelletoAriel, only Disney knows how they will showcase each iconic princess, and fans will be waiting with bated breath for the next update.
Wanted to start a discussion about the header image. I'm not a fan of the current image. The portrait aspect causes it to take up too much of the page and the castle is repetitive to other Disney parks and resorts. In my opinion, the infobox image should attempt to reflect the totality of the resort, not just "the lead icon of the lead park." It should also be something unique to the resort, to avoid all the Disney resort pages being various castles. I'd actually be open to an aerial image of the resort, but didn't see anything good in Commons.
Anyways, I'd really like to see us suggest images and try to reach a consensus. I'll start with my Spaceship Earth & Monorail image, which I think achieves the stated goals. -- RickyCourtney (talk) 18:28, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with changing the image. One of the primary problems with having the castles as icons of Disney’s resorts is that it creates ambiguity when we use the same or almost the same image for the actual castle park. This is a problem with Disneyland Resort, Tokyo Disney, etc. At least with Disney World we have other icons that can represent the resort. Also, as was said, the other resorts have similar castle images in their leads.
The proposed image represents multiple icons unique to Disney World while clearly differentiating itself from the lead images in the EPCOT and WDW Monorail articles. Plus, castles are already well represented as icons in other Disney-related articles, so we should acknowledge these other WDW icons which are well represented in branding but not on Wikipedia.
I don't see why we're trying to be contrary for seemingly no reason: we should be using an image of something that almost everyone would say is symbolic of Walt Disney World, which would be Cinderella Castle. Saying "it's included everywhere else" isn't a valid reason for not including it in this article. Neither is "its height is causing me to scroll too much." If it does become the Epcot one, I can guarantee people are going to be changing it on their own quite regularly. (And, just for clarification, when you say it's "[your] Spaceship Earth & Monorail image", do you mean it's your preference, or you took the photo?) It's not about being "contrary for seemingly no reason"; it's about making the best encyclopedia possible. Part of that is questioning the status quo. To answer your other question, no, it's not my picture, just one I picked from Commons.
I'd like to suggest another option: a photo montage of all the icons. That way, all parks are equally represented, and this solution is easily implemented in other locations. -- RickyCourtney (talk) 18:26, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Seasider53: I have a suggestion for you. If you want to use a castle image for the montage, i recommend you to use the more recent file regarding the castle, which the foto was taken after 50th anniversary. Then, you can crop the image in order to fit into montage. Here's the more recent image.
