Hal Peck[edit]

)

Hal Peck

5x expanded by Muboshgu (talk). Self nominated at 21:44, 2 January 2014 (UTC).

  • The article is new enough and has been expanded sufficiently to meet DYK requirements. The references are reliable and the citations have been verified. Hook is short, but there is no inline citation for it, a strict requirement for DYK. QPQ required. Mindmatrix 21:57, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
  • I've added the citation. Mindmatrix 22:01, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Also, please format the references with relevant source information using cite templates (in this case, they should all be using {{cite news}}), and should certainly exclude "Google News Archive Search". Mindmatrix 22:18, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
  • QPQ performed. There is no DYK requirement that references be "fully formatted", just that they not be bare. I'll try to get around to it today or tomorrow anyway, though. – Muboshgu (talk) 16:54, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
  • You're right, there's no requirement for it, though I do consider it a good practice to provide these details, at the very least the newspaper, title, and date. (Although unlikely, if Google were to shutter its news archive, it'd be difficult to determine the sources from the information provided. ) QPQ has been completed, so this is good to go. Mindmatrix 23:01, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Nice article and catchy hook, Muboshgu. Don't want to hold this up (no reason to), but if you wanted to add a free image, this could make a good lead hook. Bowman 1949 baseball cards are public domain, and there's a decent image of Peck on a 1949 Bowman. See here. Cbl62 (talk) 05:55, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks, and great idea. I wasn't aware that set of Bowman had an unrenewed copyright. I've uploaded that image. It does look good at this size. If it's not used for the DYK, it'll still look good in the article. – Muboshgu (talk) 12:49, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
Image satisfies DYK criteria - it is PD, used in the article, and is suitable at this size. Mindmatrix 15:50, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
