General parameters:

• class – valid values are listed in the custom class mask. See the project's quality scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |class= blank or omit the parameter.
• importance – valid values are listed in the custom importance mask. See the project's importance scale for details. Setting an explicit value of NA is rarely necessary; for this, either leave |importance= blank or omit the parameter.
• attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention.
  • This parameter populates Category:Animation articles needing attention.
• needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles.
  • This parameter populates Category:Animation articles needing infoboxes.
• needs-image – set |needs-image=yes if the article requires an image or photograph, which should be added per guidance and per fair use.
  • This parameter populates Category:Wikipedia requested images of animation.
  • image-details – (appears only if |needs-image=yes is set) Additional details to describe the image that is requested.
• unref – set |unref=yes if the article requires additional references.
  • This parameter populates Category:Unreferenced animation articles.
• cleanup – set |cleanup=yes if the article requires a general cleanup. Please detail what aspects of the article require clean-up on the article's talk page, otherwise the tag can be removed without redress to the problems.
  • This parameter populates Category:Animation articles needing cleanup.
• fiction – set |fiction=yes if the article requires rewriting to maintain an out of universe approach per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction).
  • This parameter populates Category:Animation articles that need to differentiate between fact and fiction.
• listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for Winsor McCay, use |listas=McCay, Winsor so that the talk page will show up in the M's and not the W's of the various assessment and administrative categories; similarly, for topics with titles beginning with an article such as "the" or "a" - e.g. for A Computer Animated Hand, use |listas=Computer Animated Hand, A so that the talk page will show up in the C's). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people § Ordering names in a category.
  If the article is using {{WikiProject banner shell}} then it is preferable to add |listas= to that template instead of a project banner template. Putting the parameter on more than one template is not required.
• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.

Reviews and collaborations:

• A-Class – set |A-Class=current, |A-Class=passor|A-Class=fail if the article indicates the status of the article's A-Class review.
• collaboration-candidate – set |collaboration-candidate=yes if the page is a candidate to be the project collaboration.
  • This parameter populates Category:Animation collaboration candidates.
• current-collaboration – set |current-collaboration=yes if the page is currently the project collaboration.
  • This parameter populates Category:Current animation collaboration.
• past-collaboration – set |past-collaboration=yes (or any non-blank value other than "no", "n", "0" or "¬", such as the dates it was part of the collaboration) if the page was a past project collaboration.
  • This parameter populates Category:Past animation collaboration.

Portals:

• portalX-name – if the article has been selected for use on a portal, the name of that portal. The name should be given without any formatting or namespace prefixes; thus, Portal:Animation is given as "|portal1-name=Animation". Up to five different portals may be specified, via the parameters portal1-name through portal5-name.
• portalX-link – the portal subpage location where the article may be found on the corresponding portal. This should be given as a pure unlinked subpage name; thus, Portal:Animation/Selected article/6 is given as "|portal1-link=Selected article/6".
