David Prosperi (birthdate) is an American public relations and communications strategist. Prosperi served as a press aide in the 1980 election for Ronald Reagan. Upon Reagan's election to the presidency, Prosperi served as an Assistant Press Secretary to the president. During the attempted assassination of Ronald Reagan, Prosperi was the first person to notify the White House by calling them from a payphone in the lobby of the Washington Hilton Hotel.[1]
Prosperi was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Elmhurst, Illinois. He graduated from York High School before attending Illinois State University, eventually transferring to The University of Illinois. He graduated with a BS in Business Administration in 1975. He later earned a Masters in International Business from George Washington University in 1983. Prosperi also completed a management and leadership program for senior government managers at the Harvard Kennedy SchoolatHarvard University.
