Hi there! Phase I of the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review has concluded, with several impactful changes gaining community consensus and proceeding to various stages of implementation. Some proposals will be implemented in full outright; others will be discussed at phase II before being implemented; and still others will proceed on a trial basis before being brought to phase II. The following proposals have gained consensus:
Greetings! I'm currently in the process of drafting an article about an Albanian writer. Would you mind guiding me through the process? --RBashota (talk) 19:09, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@RBashota: Apologies for the late reply. I would be happy to help you! Do you have anything in specific you need help with?
To start out, I would recommend carrying out a source search. Search the writer's name and look for reliable sources (reputable newspapers, books, articles, etc.). Good places to start are google search, google news, books, etc. If you find that you have more than 2-3 high quality sources that discuss the subject in depth, you have enough material to pass the general notability guideline and can begin writing the article. Message me back once you are at this step.
Hello Core Contest participants, we've officially hit the halfway mark! With just over three weeks remaining until the May 31 deadline (23:59 UTC), it's time to ramp up our efforts. Remember, Wikipedia wants to be edited!
Now is a good time to set goals for your article: What section needs the most improvement? Which sources remain unused? How can you best spend your time? Good luck and happy editing! Cheers from the judges, Femke, Casliber, Aza24. – Aza24 (talk)02:28, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Since you are not autoconfirmed yet, you have to create a draft first, then it must be accepted by a reviewer. If you need any help with that, try reading this page, and read through Wikipedia's core principles, which can be accessed at WP:5P. Also, there are additional considerations that apply when writing about living people. Please read WP:BLP: essentially, our rules for what is allowed in an article is stricter. — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 03:47, 21 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I could not determine what I had done wrong despite looking at several instructions and models. If you think that it is worth keeping, can you fix it? Ferrarama (talk) 08:54, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferrarama: The person who reverted you explained it pretty reasonably, I think.
Almost everything on Wikipedia must have citations / references. This is understandable, as we need to make sure false information isn't added. However, anyone can add information to sites like IMDB. We call this user-generated content. Due to this, we don't consider it reliable to use in articles. If we allowed IMDB, then anyone could add false information to IMDB, then use it to make a claim on wiki. There are some more reasons why this edit is improper, but that's the core idea. — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 17:03, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for explaining it. CBS seems not to maintain a website on this series anymore. Does the Amazon page selling the DVDs of this season and listing "The Curse of the Ninth" as episode 9's title count as a reliable source? Ferrarama (talk) 06:42, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferrarama: Amazon usually isn't reliable. I would be hesitant to use Amazon because it doesn't demonstrate the notability of the statement. For example, there are likely tons of episodes that mention the curse of the ninth. But, it's better to only mention episodes that have independent sources mentioning the curse being on the episode, so we don't include EVERY mention of the curse that exists. I wrote an essay WP:EDWS which has similar pionts. Do any newspapers or articles discuss the episode? Also see WP:RSPAMAZONorWP:AMAZON. Thanks. — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 01:51, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your kind and frank reply and also for the thoughtful and helpful article on what constitutes useful citations. Good 2024 to you. Ferrarama (talk) 19:55, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Core Contest has now ended! Thank you for your interest and efforts. Make sure that you include both a "start" and "improvement diff" on the entries page. Hi! I have created a page but don't see how I can publish it in the primary encyclopedia. Do I need to make edits on articles (x10) in order for the article I created to be published? --Lanelizard (talk) 03:34, 8 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Lanelizard: Hi there! Only autoconfirmed users can create pages. To be autoconfirmed, your account must be at least 4 days old and have made at least 10 edits. Non-autoconfirmed users can only create their pages through Wikipedia's review process, Articles for Creation. I see you've already done that, so you only need to wait for a reviewer to look over it. They are reviewed in no particular order, so it could be tomorrow or 3 months from now. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you! — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 15:54, 9 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello editor, I do not want to delete a text written my someone. What I would like to do is to be able to add a reply and provide my own citation.
How do I go about this? Thanks --Ednorig (talk) 15:40, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, eventually I would like to submit an article and perhaps have a page. For now, I would like to add a statement to an article and add the citation and I don't know how! There is a lot of information on the Wikipedis that if overwhelming. So my question is: how to add a comment to a written article and add the source of my info. Nothing more, nothing else. Thank you Ednorig Ednorig (talk) 01:32, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion will take place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sibpur Hindu Girls High School until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.
Not sure if your article qualifies? See the guidelines for more information or contact a coordinator for verification.

I'm not sure I understand. You said that I'm correct then implied that I did something incorrect. Is there a difference between it being a row header, and "semantically marked"? — PerfectSoundWhatever (t; c) 04:20, 18 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
