  • The Trevor Loudon page

Hello, It has been frustrating and frankly shocking to discover that edits made to Trevor Loudon's page were reversed. The original page had numerous broken links and was outdated by several years. I noted on the revision page that links were broken - entire sections were sourced ONLY with broken links. This is why I removed those sections. Also, certain claims were made and not sourced. For example, Trevor's blog was listed as "controversial" but this was not cited or explained in any way. Please let me know, specifically, what it is that you find objectionable.

I just noticed that you removed ALL of my edits, including a photo of Trevor Loudon. The broken links have been returned to the page. At the very least broken/outdated links should not be cited!

Also, I cannot fathom why you would want to delete pages about Trevor's two books. Please explain. ReneeNal (talk) 08:08, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi@ReneeNal: most of this I've already explained on your talk page. The two Loudon books were nominated for deletion because they fail the criteria in WP:NBOOK. Being sourced to broken links isn't normally a good reason for deleting information - web pages are often archived to the Internet Archive or NZ's National Library. Some of the citations you deleted were in fact print references. Many of your changes were factually incorrect or incredibly dubious; such as saying that NZ anti-nuclear groups had Soviet masters, calling a vast range of NZ social democrat and peace activist groups "radical left-wing", calling the Plains Club and Coalition of Concerned Citizens bipartisan and deleting "conservative", saying the Māori protest movement "was directed by Communist subversives", the sentence "He is best known for exposing the communist background of 'Green Jobs Czar' Van Jones, which led to Jones' eventual resignation from the Obama administration" is highly unlikely and has a very unreliable source, and "Loudon has spoken at over 400 conferences, events and groups in the United States" is pretty unlikely and isn't even in the unrelaible source you used. Some of your other edits were also bizarre; such as deciding an article on a New Zealander shouldn't be written in NZ English, or putting a completely unsourced date of birth in an unrecognisable format when his year of birth isn't publicly known. Yes I did revert all your edits - you had ignored the advice placed on your talk page and on balance the damage done to the article was much worse than any possible improvements you may have made. -- haminoon (talk) 09:21, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi Haminoon, Thanks for your explanation. I appreciate your feedback and obviously do not agree. I explained these as well in my updates, but I am happy to go into more detail.

Some things are currently highly dubious on this page as it stands now - it is also outdated and does not reflect any of Loudon's political work in the United States, which is why I am updating the page in the first place - and why his page reflects "English."

For example, the page as it stands makes claims like this regarding Trevor Loudon's website: "a website dedicated to compiling hostile dossiers on left-wing political figures." This is not correct. The "about" section on Keywiki (which is cited as the Wiki stands) says that Keywiki "is a bipartisan knowledge base focusing primarily on corruption and the covert side of politics in the United States and globally. While particular interest is taken in the left, KeyWiki serves to expose covert politics on both the left and the right of the political spectrum." Please tell me how "a website dedicated to compiling hostile dossiers on left-wing political figures" is cited.

Yes, Trevor Loudon was the one that exposed Van Jones, and this was clear on two different sources - one of the sources was Trevor's own blog, the one that is cited numerous times on his current page. Yes, Loudon has spoken at over 400 events as he claims.[1] Also, I notice the image of Trevor is gone. Did you delete that, too? Do you not believe it is him? I restored it, as I personally took the photo.

The page as it stands uses numerous sources from Loudon's old blog, such as this one: http://newzeal.blogspot.com/2006/07/sap-number-8-brian-roper.html.

It also sources links like this: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/22/AR2008052203905.html, which barely touch on Loudon (The article used one quote that had not even been referenced on the Wiki page). I used links from Loudon's current blog and you deleted those. I used current links from his appearances on the Glenn Beck program and you deleted those, as well. Loudon's new activity should be updated, at the very least. His birthday is on his Facebook page - is that not an appropriate source? ReneeNal (talk) 16:51, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

There's little I can do to help you if you don't read what I've written or the links I've put on your talk page, and if you edit-war to add factual inaccuracies after I've pointed them out to you. -- haminoon (talk) 04:24, 28 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello Haminoon - re. #1Ref1LIB project

I'm about to attempt to get some momentum for this project, with several tweets. I hope that's OK! are you aware of particular activities around Aotearoa/NZ? Thanks, Elucidata (talk) 07:16, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

@Elucidata:Approximately zero. It may be worth asking on Wikipedia:New Zealand Wikipedians' notice board -- haminoon (talk) 07:23, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
thanks for quick reply :) will do. I've also just tweeted to @wikilibrary. Where are you based? Elucidata (talk) 07:41, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
in Auckland. Let me know if there's any way I can help. -- haminoon (talk) 07:44, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

    Help?

So I got the message from you up in the box at the top of the screen. Regarding the Eve Gordon page, I put in the talk section for her why I changed it from what it was. I am completely new to Wikipedia (well as far as being a contributor). How do I change the page so that the information stays there? I did try to add some sources at the bottom of the page but they don't look right. Kind of lost with this. I just wanted her to have a correct page and not just a redirect page... P.s. If there is a way to respond back to that at you, I don't know how... A reply button would be nice.. (BrandyDW (talk) 11:43, 24 January 2016 (UTC))
