Rest in peace

[edit]

human rights and relations

Thank you for quality articles such as Peter Wellington, Maori voting rights in Australia and Australia-Zimbabwe relations, for admin services, for recommending to try communicaty discussion first, for contributions from 2005, beginning with Hello, friends. - repeating (15 February 2009, 11 August 2009): Craig, bass guitar player, you are an awesome Wikipedian!

RIP, and condolences to those who miss you. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:21, 16 April 2018 (UTC) --ThurnerRupert (talk) 21:22, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
May his memory be a blessing.
Peaceray (talk) 18:14, 16 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
“We were deeply shocked and saddened to learn the news of Craig's passing.
“Craig joined the group of privacy ombudspeople for the Wikimedia projects in February 2017. With his firm commitment to protect the users of our sites, his readiness to dive into the matters pending before us, and his great good humor, he was enthusiastically received by his colleagues. Craig would regularly take a lead role on managing our caseload, which he handled with diligence, good judgment and distinguished ability. Discussions with him were always exhilarating and rewarding. He welcomed differing views, and had the rare quality of being not only able to convince others, but also to let them convince him. He strived for compromise even in the face of profound differences. Unsurprisingly to anyone who has had a chance to work with him, Craig was reappointed to the Commission this year.
“We owe him our deepest gratitude for his work, which was and continues to be an inspiration to all of us. He will be greatly missed.”

Thank you for fully protecting the user page Primefac, I agree that that is the most effective way to prevent any possible vandalism and to preserve the page content. --TheSandDoctor Talk 07:23, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Only just found out about this. Really am shocked to hear this. May you rest in peace Craig, and that you for your work here, particularly saving an article I created, Lilah Parsons from deletion. Class455 (talk|stand clear of the doors!) 09:27, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Only just found out about this too through a MediaWiki message, and I am very sad to hear this. :-( Rest in peace, Lankiveil, and thank you for everything you have contributed to the encyclopaedia. Patient Zerotalk 13:52, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Funeral arrangements

[edit]

Craig/Lankiveil's funeral will be held in Brisbane on Friday 27 April. For privacy, please email me at kerry.raymond@wikimedia.org.au for full details. Kerry (talk) 09:55, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I hope Kerry won't mind me adding here links to the messages they posted on the Wikimedia Australia mailing list, which included a link to the short family tribute/obituary published in The Courier-Mail: (1) Tribute: FRANKLIN, Craig Patrick (24/04/2018); (2) Note on the funeral. Carcharoth (talk) 11:01, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sad

[edit]

It's just sad when something like this happens. Which is why I'm grateful to be alive. Rest in Peace Lankiveil ―YoloMaxi  (contribs) 00:30, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

First, RIP. Second, my edit request is that you change the administrator infobox to say that he's a former administrator, which is what he is now (his account was desysopped shortly after his death, as usual in cases like this). Every morning (there's a halo...) 18:41, 13 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not done no need for this @Everymorning:. The categories have already been removed, and there is a clear banner on the top of the page this this account is RIP. — xaosflux Talk 15:50, 14 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
