< Wikipedia:WikiProject Council
(Redirected from Wikipedia:COUNCIL/P)

AWikiProject is a group of editors who want to work together. A WikiProject is not a subject area, a group of pages, a banner on talk pages, or any of the infrastructure used to support the group. If you do not have a group of editors, you do not have a WikiProject. Successful groups normally begin with about 10 active, experienced editors. Experience with participating in and collaborating in an existing group is particularly helpful.

Proposing a WikiProject[edit]

  • WP:WPPRO
  • In 2024, we are changing the proposal process. We are trying to reduce the number of failed attempts to start groups. While we re-structure the pages, please do not propose any new groups. In the meantime, please consider two thousand existing projects and/or try to revive one of the many dormant WikiProjects. If your group can't wait for the new process, please only create group pages in the userspace of one of your members.

You can use the search box below to locate existing WikiProjects and task forces:

    Proposing a task force[edit]

Any existing WikiProject can create a task force whenever it chooses, so the normal place to propose a task force is at the parent WikiProject's talk page. Copying the proposal here is not required, but you can use this page to advertise a newly created task force, or to see whether a focused task force might draw in enough editors to make its creation worthwhile.

    Current proposals[edit]

    Closing proposals[edit]

Proposals are generally closed as successful if several active editors (aim for 6 to 12) are interested in starting and participating in the group. For help with setting up the infrastructure, see Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide/WikiProject or post at the WikiProject Council talk page to request help. Proposals can be closed as unsuccessful after a month or two of stalled discussion. To close a proposal, follow the instructions at the template documentation and add the proposal link to the most recent archive page.
