Add your request in the most appropriate place below.

Before adding a request please:

Biography requests are organized by profession and nationality; add your request to both categories if possible. Keep requests in order by the person's last name.

Information to include
  • Name – be certain of the spelling; alphabetize by last name in each section.
  • Date requested – so that older requests can be more easily tracked.
  • Identifying information – For, example, there are lots of James Smiths in the world; so specify which one are you asking about — the Scottish pathologist, the American rapper, or who?
  • Notability – if it isn't already obvious from the identifying information, describe precisely what makes them notable. Be concise.
  • Reference – add a link to a reference which identifies the person and/or highlights their notability

Also, when adding a request, please include as much information as possible (such as webpages, articles, or other reference material) so editors can find and distinguish your request from an already-created article.

Please place in the appropriate section below, or at another Wikipedia article request venue:

  • Steve Baylis (requested 2017.09.18) is a painter and graphic designer from Vancouver,Canada. Steve Baylis was born in Vancouver BC in 1980. He studied illustration and graphic design at Capilano University. Steve Baylis used to co-own an advertising agency before pursuing art. His art hangs in public, private and corporate collections. He had also created a public art commission for the City of Port Coquitlam. [349][350] About his Art: artist Steve Baylis combines a range of unique influences with his own driven spiritual inquiry. In Baylis’ oil paintings, he is not representing known objects or figures, but speaking directly through the paint. He seeks to reflect energy itself, from its micro form to the level of the universe. His compositions can be divided into clusters even while they work as organic wholes. Elements like colour, tone, and form speak their own language, both directly and in interaction with each other. In Incarceration of Comprehension for instance, we see his use of vibrant neon yellow points beam out from beneath deep saturated blues. The viewer could be looking at extreme close-ups of nature, particle clusters, details of an inner landscape, or simply forms of paint, pigment, and brushstroke themselves. His sensitivity to his materials having their own voice honours the same qualities in Mark Rothko’s later “multiform” paintings, as well as colour field painters like Barnett Newman – both of whom have been great influencers of Baylis’ oeuvre. • In Ireland it was different. Following the verdict of Lennon, the ships in Irish ports choose to remain. Peter Kolts, a crewman of Pirer, another Estonian ship at Dublin south quays, hoisted the hammer and sickle and prevented Captain Joseph Juriska from removing it. The Garda Síochána were called. Following a court appearance before Lennon the sailor spent a week in jail.[114] Forde, Frank (1981). The Long Watch. Dublin: New Island Books (published 2000). ISBN 1-902602-42-0. I reckon that Lennon should have an article. There was much more to his life. He was involved in the war of independence. During the 1916 rising he was with Éamon de Valera in Bolands Éamon de Valera. There is a wealth of material in the recently released by the National Library: https://catalogue.nli.ie/Record/vtls000822996. He wrote an attack on James Joyce published in America which so upset Joyce that he never returned to Ireland. It focused on his treatment of Nora Barnacle. In a letter to Constantine Curran, Joyce wrote that, to him, the map of Ireland was marked "Hic Sunt Lennones". He was jailed in England. He was appointed District Court Judge in 1920. In 1958 he dismissed charges against two IRA members. Oscar Traynor, the minister of justice gave him a week to resign or be impeached. Tim Pat Coogan in his book The IRA described this as "stern treatment of an eccentric but humane judge".[115] His pension was £5 a week, even for the time – rather small. • Webb Hayes II (1890-1957), full name Webb Cook Hayes II, grandson of US President Rutherford B. Hayes, son of Birchard A. Hayes, and nephew of Medal of Honor recipient Webb Hayes. He was named for his uncle with the "II" suffix despite their names' slight difference (James Webb Cook Hayes vs. Webb Cook Hayes II). Hayes II served in the United States Navy during World War I, retired from the service in 1928, was called back to service in 1942 to serve as the Navy's director of recruiting and induction, had his request for active service granted in 1944 when he was given command of the troop transport liner USS West Point, retired again in 1946, and was promoted to Rear Admiral in 1955. He is a recipient of Portugal's highest military honor, the Military Order of Aviz. That he was the grandson of a president and a rear admiral might not quite be enough but I believe those two facts combined with his reception of Portugal's highest award (which meets the standard at WP:ANYBIO #1) establish notability. The best source is his collection at his grandfather's presidental library, which could be an issue per WP:PRIMARY, but there are others. Fair warning: this could be tricky because there are at least 3, and possibly 4, members of this family who went by "Webb Hayes." Thank you for your consideration.
