Welcome to WikiProject Dietary Supplements! This is a place where editors who want to help improve Wikipedia articles on dietary supplements can collaborate and discuss things. Everyone is welcome to join us, regardless of qualifications. Feel free to introduce yourself at our discussion page and check out our goals. There's always somewhere to help out because Wikipedia is a work in progress.

Our typical article style is described here; it contains details on issues that can arise. A guideline on what qualifies as reliable medical source is here, though these pages are not "laws": they are intended to give us focus, inspire us, and organize our contributions. They should not prevent anyone from writing and improving medical articles!

If you would like to help, feel free to add yourself to the list of participants (no strings attached!) We hope you enjoy reading and improving Wikipedia's health articles.

Goals

[edit]
  1. support editors and readers who want to learn about dietary supplements
  2. collect any scholarly research - especially favoring review articles and secondary sources, and typically excluding primary research and case studies - on any dietary supplements and share the same on talk pages of appropriate articles so that articles can be developed
  3. identify major legislation in any country which defines or regulates the manufacture and distribution of dietary supplements and make Wikipedia articles for the same.
  4. post safety notices on dietary supplement article pages, when such notices exist in reliable sources

Improve articles

[edit]

Scope

[edit]

This WikiProject aims to organise, expand, and improve Wikipedia's coverage on areas or subjects related to dietary supplements. The scope overlaps with the following projects and task forces:

  1. WikiProject Medicine
  2. WikiProject Pharmacology
  3. WikiProject Alternative Medicine
  4. WikiProject Food and Drink

When any article makes a health claim there is consensus that contributors should defer to the guidelines created by WikiProject Medicine. These guidelines include policies for determining what constitutes a reliable source for health claims.

Quality and importance

"Quality" refers to article quality and "importance" refers to how important an article is for developing this project. When a user tags an article with the above template and rates the article, then it will be included in this table after the bot runs (every three days). To update the table immediately, tell the bot to check things out by making a request here. Either select "Dietary supplement" from the list or put those words in the box using that capitalization.

Click on any of the numbers in this table to go to a page where you can see the articles that have been rated as the table describes.
