From the editors

Please note that Ed apologizes for the errant section title ("GOCE July 2012 Copy Edit Drive") in delivering the newsletter this month. It should have read "The Bugle: Issue LXXV, June 2012." With that...

This month's issue showcases a bumper crop of new Featured and A-Class articles, twenty-five in all—a record this year! More than half of those—fifteen in fact, another record for this year—are biographies, which neatly complements last month's interview segment with various editors discussing that very subject. We also had the largest field of editors this year in the monthly article-writing contest, and the highest number of entries submitted since January. Not surprisingly, considering the number of articles promoted during the month, May also saw five A-Class Medals awarded to project members, equaling the best tally this year.

Once again the Bugle editors would like to stress that watchlisting the project talk page (Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Military history, add to watchlist) is extremely important, as opportunities to get involved come every day, and this monthly newsletter cannot hope to inform you of all of them. That said, we currently have discussions open on our new list-class assessment scheme, a new source of images (courtesy of the National Archives), the Australian War Memorial's annual conference, a proposal to lower the number of articles with incomplete B-class checklists, a list of needed A-class reviews, and a proposal to address false data in army/navy/air force articles.

In addition, there is an opportunity for an interested editor to work with the Old Weather project ([1]), which "involves transcribing weather and historical information from WWI era Royal Navy ships. In the course of this project, [they have] uncovered information in the logs that updates or contradicts information in Wiki articles." Anyone who would like to work with them is encouraged to contact Lori Phillips at lori.byrd.phillips@gmail.com.

The Bugle also wishes to congratulate Anotherclown, who received our project's most prestigious award—the WikiChevons with Oak Leaves—on 20 May.

Your editors, Ed [talk] [majestic titan] and Ian Rose (talk).
