スティーヴン・ウォルト

スティーヴン・マーティン・ウォルト︵Stephen Martin Walt、1955年7月2日 - ︶は、アメリカ合衆国の国際政治学者。ハーバード大学ケネディ行政大学院教授。

経歴

1983年、カリフォルニア大学バークレー校から博士号取得︵政治学︶後、プリンストン大学助教授、シカゴ大学准教授・教授を経て、現職。

博士論文である The Origins of Alliances. では、同盟の形成において、勢力均衡︵balance of power︶ではなく、脅威均衡︵balance of threat︶が大きな役割を果たしていることを明らかにした。

2003年のアメリカのイラク戦争に際して、ジョン・ミアシャイマーらとともに、現実主義の立場からアメリカの国益にそぐわないと批判した。
