レダ・コスミデス

レダ・コスミデス︵Leda Cosmides, 1957年5月9日 - ︶は、アメリカ合衆国の心理学者で、人類学者の夫ジョン・トゥービーとともに進化心理学分野のパイオニアとなった。リーダ・コスミデスとも表記される。

経歴

コスミデスはペンシルベニア州フィラデルフィアに生まれる。当初ハーバード大学で生物学を専攻し、1979年に学位を得た。学部学生時代に、彼女の指導教官であった著名な進化生物学者ロバート・トリヴァースの影響を受けた。1985年にコスミデスはハーバードから認知心理学の博士を得て、スタンフォード大学のロジャー・シェパードの元でポスドクとして研究を続けた。その後、1991年にカリフォルニア大学サンタバーバラ校の教員となり、2000年に教授となった。

1992年にジョン・トゥービー、ジェローム・バーコウとともに﹃Adapted Mind:Evolutionary Psychology and the Generation of Culture︵適応した心:進化心理学と文化の生成︶﹄を編集した。彼女とトゥービーは進化心理学センターの共同創設者であり、現在も共同で運営している。
