No mention of the lysine price-fixing fiasco of the 1990s? 71.14.92.181 03:56, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ajinomoto has also been fined EUR 15,540,000 by the European Commission in 2002 for anticompetitive practices. This ref [1] should also be included in the article. MaxPont 12:29, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Urban legend[edit]

I removed this urban legend [2] as it seems doubtful to me. What country is this referring to? I would assume not the US or probably much the Western world given that I'm pretty sure Ajinomoto was unheard of in 1917 there (the US office was established in 1956). Also this referred to Ajinomoto as a subtance. I presume it was referring to MSG. But was Ajinomoto associated with MSG in Japan (or wherever) in 1917? Or was it a brand of a company that makes stuff including MSG? Ajinomoto may remain predominantly associated with MSG in much of the western world but they do make other stuff and may have been doing so in 1917. In the unlikely event this urban legend existed and a reference is found, make sure to clarify what is mean by Ajinomoto as a product and more importantly make sure to not put it in the controversy since it is clearly not a controversy and there is nothing similar with a real controversy where they were using a product considered unacceptable to much of the local populace Nil Einne (talk) 09:24, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You're not missing anything. It was apparently a lame attempt at a joke. --16:15, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

I'm about to edit Ajinomoto rather violently. In the modosodium glutamate chapter rather up the article. As a spice-freak I think I know my history rather well, so I'd like to contribute my talk to the Wikipedia community in the form of a rewrite. Still, I don't have references for my work -- I rarely do -- so I'd appreciate if you didn't kill my contribution outrigh. I'd like you to annotate the stuff to your hearts' content with citation labels, if need be. Decoy (talk) 00:05, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

History section does not list events before the 1990s, even though it's nearly a 100 year old company[edit]

I just put a recentism tag in the section because the company has been around since 1917 but its "history" is only shown starting in the 1990s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1015:B12F:2491:8B4D:A9C8:1EF7:F434 (talk) 22:24, 23 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Saving face in Indonesia fiasco, Japan-style?[edit]

This section (Controversies - Indonesia pork) is unclear and needs clarifying. How can a a pork-based enzyme's "end product" not contain any pig-derived substances?! This is the same bologna (pun intended) that the agritech co Monsanto feeds us when they have supplements cos. claim that their GMO-derived supplements "contain no GMOs". Yeah, right! Sounds like they were saving face and trying to avoid a national outcry/riot/revolt here! So the wording "Food and Drug Administration of the Indonesian Government stepped up to announce... blah blah" is vague. Are you saying that the muslims of Indonesia all GOBBLED up their FDA's claims without proof? What evidence was offered here? What proof does the FDA have to this obvious truth-manipulation via clever wording?? Evidently, they (muslims) all ingested pork molecules. Did the Japanese, in fact, save face by lying, thus meaning that muslims of Indonesia CONTINUE to eat pork molecules since the 1990s? Or did they quit carrying that pork-based product or what is going on? Either way, what does their religion tell them to do with themselves once they've eaten pork? Cause they certainly did and no amount of denial can alter reality here. Maybe both countries tried to avoid an Indonesia-Japan nuclear (or otherwise) war? Clarifications, please!108.178.137.210 (talk) 22:08, 29 October 2019 (UTC)Curious Brit Questions everything -[reply]
