New article[edit]

What do you think? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jebediah springfield (talk—Preceding unsigned comment added by Jebediah springfield (talkcontribs) 17:07, 11 June 2006

It's a good first edit, and a good stub on an important topic that deserves an article. AFAIK Al Udeid Air Base was the launching pad for the 2003 invasion of Iraq. 86.56.48.12 22:36, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There's one problem, in that it's written as a newspaper article, not as an encyclopedic entry. I've tagged it for cleanup. Gittinsj 06:03, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As-Sailiyah[edit]

Could someone create the As-Sailiyah article? This second of two US bases in Qatar also deserves an article. Both bases are mentioned here: [1] 86.56.48.141 20:42, 16 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GlobalSecurity.org spells it Camp As Sayliyah. --Pmsyyz 04:27, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Emir Wanted 10,000 US Service Members At Base Claim- Source[edit]

Hi. There is a citation required for the claim in the introductory paragraph that "In 1999, Qatar's emir, Sheikh Hamad, reportedly told US officials that he would like to see as many as 10,000 US servicemen permanently stationed at Al Udeid." Well, I found a source online that states exactly that, verbatim: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/facility/udeid.htm (sixth paragraph.) However, since Mr. Hamad is presently not the emir of Qatar, (his son Tamim bin Hamad Al Thaniis), perhaps someone should adjust the quote to state "Qatar's emir at the time, Sheikh Hamad..." or something to that effect.

Since I am not registered, I thought I'd just pass this link on to you all and let you deal with it. Thanks!114.162.170.83 (talk) 09:24, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Trump's tweet lay claim to split and taking credit for disrupting power base in the region[edit]

Fast evolving and of huge historical significance, the loss of an ally of the US; New section is most warranted. http://thehill.com/policy/defense/336496-trump-takes-credit-for-qatar-split imo--Wikipietime (talk) 14:20, 6 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Discussion[edit]

I am proposing that RAF Al Udeid should be merged into this article. All information from there could easily be incorporated into the infobox and "Royal Air Force operations" section of this article. --BegbertBiggs (talk) - de 18:54, 24 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

As there seem to be no differing opinions after 2 weeks, I'll begin working on the merge. --BegbertBiggs (talk) - de 22:23, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Completed the merge as result of no opposition after 1 month. --BegbertBiggs (talk) - de 12:17, 24 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
