Article almost certainly contains original research[edit]

The way this article is written with phrases like "the priority users of fuel were always, of course, the armed forces" strongly implies original research, especially as sourcing is completely inadequate. That is why the OR tags have been placed. The article needs a complete rewrite, in my opinion, with all content based on reliable sources and properly cited. No Great Shaker (talk) 20:37, 11 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a reference relating to petrol rationing in 1973. I haven't removed the request for references in that section as the other items alos need to sources, I think. Epzcaw (talk) 10:32, 25 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 23 March 2023[edit]

Change "invalid" to "people who were ill or physically disabled."

"Invalid" is sometimes considered offensive. KublaiofXanadu (talk) 21:29, 23 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It was the term in use at the time in connection with the special allowances. Also, someone who is physically disabled is not ipso facto an invalid. Sbishop (talk) 10:29, 24 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{Edit semi-protected}} template. Actualcpscm (talk) 08:36, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

'Clothing' section[edit]

Alterations and additions made namely to the article section concerning the rationing of clothing. Including removal of short initial paragraph on clothes rationing (unreferenced and suggested to the reader that there is no further discussion of this topic, which does continue under the sub-heading of non-food rationing).

Addition of historical information, references, images, and links to other related Wikipedia articles (Utility Clothing Scheme, Imperial War Museum, for example).

Thank you! Diary of a Dress Historian (talk) 15:07, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
