Untitled[edit]

I got here because of the link from a page that listed honey and corn syrup as "Sweeteners"... I guess something should be done about this, obviously many people use "Sweeteners" for things other than "Artificial sweeteners" (and I must add, if there IS a phrase "Artificial sweeteners", that should mean there ARE sweeteners which are NOT artificial). I have made this a stub instead of a redirect, but I wasn't sure what definition to use, so I urge someone smarter than me to do it :) --Arny 03:39, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have add the MergeTo templete because the article Sugar substitute is about the same but in much more details. Kinamand (talk) 13:56, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 22 August 2018[edit]

The discussion at Talk:Sweetener (album)#Requested move 22 August 2018 has become relevant to this page. Certes (talk) 11:49, 22 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Merge to Sweetness?[edit]

While the list in this article contains substances that are sweet, I do not think they are commonly called sweeteners. This list of sweet substances can easily be added to Sweetness while Sweetener may become a dab page linking to Sweetness and Sugar substitute. @Paul 012, RudolfSchreier, William Allen Simpson, and Erpert: pinging contributors to this discussion. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:23, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Admittedly, this is a poor article. In US cooking, sugars and substitutes are both commonly called sweeteners. According to the earliest article history, in the UK this refers only to a sugar substitute.
There is also already a dab page that used to be this page, moved most recently in 2021. There is a comprehensive analysis of all links to Sweetener on the Talk page there.
A sweetener is also a move in contract negotiation (as the lawyer in the dining room reminds me).
Also, sweetness also has a dab page. So no gain by merging.
