Feline hyperesthesia syndrome (also known as rolling-skin disease or feline hyperaesthesia syndrome) is a rare disorder that affects cats.[1] The syndrome causes spasms in the cats back, near its tail, making the skin look like it's rolling.[1] These spasms also cause increased sensitivity, and can be set off by touching the cat in the affected area. Cats may react to the onset of the disorder by running around or attempting self-mutilation.[1]
