    The more I think about language, the more it amazes me that people ever understand each other at all. Kurt Gödel.[1]

    We strive for truth, we settle for verifiability.

    The price of cooperation is effective communication.

    Wikipedia is neither straight nor narrow.

    Always in the shit. Only the depth varies. Unknown diver

    Justice and fairness:

    • Justice and fairness are philosophical concepts. When they occur it is due to cooperation of people. They have overlap, but are not the same thing.
    • There is no natural justice, but sometimes cause and effect can look that way.
    • Coincidence can be mistaken for unfairness or injustice. It can also be mistaken for justice or fairness.
    This does not mean that we should not strive for fairness and justice, but we should not be overly surprised when they do not occur.
    Toleration of intolerance is neither fair nor just.

    After RfA, chop wood, carry water.

    We have met the enemy, and he is us. Walt Kelly/Pogo

    Good faith is no guarantee of good work. Great harm can be done by those who mean well. It is likely that far more harm is done by those who know they are right than by those who think they may be wrong. See also: The road to hell is paved with good intentions, and Dunning–Kruger effect.

    The first rule of the Dunning–Kruger club is you don't know you're a member of the Dunning–Kruger club. David Dunning

    Life is full of unintended consequences, some were avoidable. Shit happens.

    Large language models: Simulated knowledge generators or artificial incompetence? Were they really expecting something better? Connections with reality may be purely coincidental. New tools to provide unreliable information at an unprecedented rate.

    Admins should be held to a higher standard of behaviour. So should everyone else.

    Judge people by what they do, not by what you think they think.

    Labelling other people is dehumanising, labelling oneself is self-identification, expecting other people to understand what one means by a label is unrealistic.

    Regex[edit]

    Search and replace in the wikitext editor which will find missing closing square brackets for a wikilink after a two-word title and add them, for example: [[Genus species There will be a space directly after the second word which can be replaced with ]] . $n in the replace string indicates the nth substring of the search regex, indicated by parentheses.

    f: (\[\[\w+\s+\w+)\s+
    r: $1]]
    Check the box at 'Treat search string as a regular expression'
    f: (\[\[\w+\s+\w+)\s+
    r: $1]]'' for italics

    Convert bulleted list glossary to templated (untested):

    f[*]'{3}\[\[(\w+\s*\w*\s*\w*\s*\w*\s*\w*\s*\w*)\]\]'{3}\s+\–\s+(.*)
    r{{term|1=[[$1]] }} {{defn|1=$2}}
    check the box at 'Treat search string as a regular expression'
    finds *'''[[up to six words with spaces]]''' – every thing else until a newline
    replaces woth {{term|1=[[up to six words with spaces]] }} {{defn|1=every thing else until a newline}}
