Event information

Details

Please bring a laptop with you as we will only have a limited number available for use.

No Wikipedia experience necessary; training sessions at 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. for newcomers on the day of the event. Library resources will be on hand for researching artists in the museum's collection. We will also be providing light refreshments and will be presenting a specially designed award cookie for those attendees that add content during the Wikipedia Edit-a-thon.

Register

Free, tickets required. To register, call 612-870-6323 or reserve online. As this is our first Wikipedia event, we will also need experienced Wikipedians to assist others who are new at editing. Please email Janice Lurie at jlurie@artsmia.org if you would be willing to help or let us know on the day of the event or on the Participants section below.

If you haven't edited in Wikipedia before, we will help you register for an account. Mia's library will be open Thursday evenings October 1, 8, 15 & 22 (5 p.m. – 8 p.m.) for assistance in setting up a Wikipedia personal account and for research in preparation for submission of new material. You can search our Library's collection online through our catalog. We also have numerous subscription research databases on art that you can access while in the Library.

Participants

And if you already have a Wikipedia account, please add your Wikipedia username to this section (signatures are created by saving four tildes [~] in a row, add your username and talk page by using three tildes):

List of articles

Below is a list of articles that would benefit from edits, expansion, or new entries during the edit-a-thon, but you are welcome to work on anything you like. These names are drawn from women artists represented in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art.

This list of women artists from Mia's collection will have images from our museum in Wikimedia Commons by the day of the event. These images can be added to an existing or a newly created article in Wikipedia about the artist.
