スティーヴン・アンブローズ

スティーヴン・エドワード・アンブローズ︵Stephen Edward Ambrose, 1936年1月10日 - 2002年10月13日︶は、アメリカの歴史家およびドワイト・D・アイゼンハワーの伝記作者。彼は1960年から1995年の半ばに引退するまでニューオリンズ大学で歴史学を教えた。

アンブローズは﹃Dデイ﹄D-Day 、﹃市民兵﹄Citizen Soldiers および﹃勝利者﹄The Victors などの第二次世界大戦に関する多くのベストセラー作家だった。彼はアイゼンハワー・センターおよびルイジアナ州ニューオーリンズの国立Dデイ博物館の創立者だった。また、映画﹃プライベート・ライアン﹄Saving Private Ryan での軍事アドバイザー、彼の作品﹃バンド・オブ・ブラザース﹄Band of Brothers に基づいたテレビ・ミニシリーズの製作総指揮を行った。

2002年10月13日に死去し、ミシシッピ州セントルイスベイのメモリ墓地に埋葬された。
