Apple's limited-edition "iPhone Pocket" sold out almost instantly worldwide despite its $150-$230 price tag. Appleinsider reports: Longtime Apple users immediately saw the resemblance with the old iPod socks, and everyone saw the price. Apple and Japan's Issey Miyake fashion house partnered to create a limited edition iPhone Pocket, a stretched sock-like bag or shoulder strap.
There was no denying that an iPhone in this Pocket looked snuggly. There was definitely no denying that the accessory was well designed. There's also no question that it was about as goofy as the iPod Sock from back the in the day. But there was every denying of the price. The iPhone Pocket came in a short version for $150, and a longer one for $230.
For comparison, the Apple Watch SE starts at $250. As ever, though, if you liked it, if you had a use for it, and if you had the budget, there was no reason left not to buy. But if you have hesitated because of the cost, you are now out of luck. There are none left in the US.

The iPhone pocket was for sale in very limited locations, picked for demographics. Deciding Apple users are a separate species is kind of prejudiced.
Let's see, there are many of us, like myself, who are on Apple products for a number of reasons

The iphone sock is a limited edition luxury item. When you have millions of users, there's always a few with more money than brains, regardless of the OS they use.

Just a note - MacOS is Unix https://www.theregister.com/20... [theregister.com]. Linux is Unixy as we say. Note that Unix is "POSIX compliant" now, and has been for a long time, (1993) so the pedants among us might want to weigh in on that.
Point is, I bash around in Terminal half the day. The default is now zsh, but bash sounds better to speak.
Yeah, when I have to go into Windows command line, I have to remember to shift my mental state.

You are trying to make the inferior performance of Android product integration a flex.
Yes - I get Apple to provide a functioning integrated system. I have things to do that I am paid for, and those things work so much better with an integrated system that I do not have to futz with while unpaid, simply to make them integrate after a fashion. Just getting a computing device to function is so early 1990's.
And my familiarity with UNIX and its close brother Linux - well, I don't know about sleeping better

Doubt it. These "socks" are ultimately a knitted loop which will be during use looped around all sorts of things, shoulders, handbags, etc. It is far easier to snatch a phone from someone's hand than it is to snatch a bag that is has a strap connected to something. Also being fabric they aren't stiff they would be harder to pickpocket than say an open handbag.
That said I see a rise of knife assisted theft in the future. Going up behind someone and quickly using a knife to cut through straps. It's already a

You are right about that. As well, they only released them in certain markets where they figured out the demographics. In the world at large, they'd not be so successful.
We live in a world where a few people think the iSock is a good idea. Probably the same demographic that believe the new Jaguar commercial people are cool. I suppose if they think the iSock is cool and want to spend the money they can. I suspect they might also have problems with financial savvy, but that's another story.

I have no plans to buy the iPhone product but I can understand an exuberant price for a fashion accessory designed by a legendary designer and made in limited numbers. The same can be said for a myriad of fashion accessories. If that is how you want to spend your money, then go for it. I will spend my money on electronics instead. It is all a waste of money for anything beyond food, shelter, healthcare and other necessities of life.
