Shakhovskoy District (Russian: Шаховско́й райо́н) is an administrative^[1] and municipal^[2] district (raion), one of the thirty-sixinMoscow Oblast, Russia. It is located in the west of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,218.88 square kilometers (470.61 sq mi).^[2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (awork settlement) of Shakhovskaya.^[1] Population: 25,372 (2010 Census);^[3] 23,061 (2002 Census);^[7] 23,783 (1989 Soviet census).^[8] The population of Shakhovskaya accounts for 42.3% of the district's total population.^[3]
