This user has administrator privileges on the English Wikipedia.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I first registered this account - my first - April 20, 2007. Since then, I've gotten involved pretty deeply in AfD work. I see it as a chance to triage articles that are flawed, but may yet have potential. If you need access to a Wikipedia article that has been deleted, ask me. If it's not a copyright violation, libel, or personal information, and has not been deleted as a suspected biographies of living persons violation, I will userfy the article for you.

Note that using the text to recreate any deleted article may automatically qualify them for speedy deletion, and copies of previously deleted content that are being used solely for long-term archival purposes may be subject to deletion because Wikipedia is not a free web host. We have a list of alternative sites which may be used to host your content.

I maintain a sock account AVPW primarily for use on public networks. In the event of a compromised account, I specifically request any administrator to honor a request from AVPW to block this account, and absolve you in advance of any repercussions.

This has been going on for quite a while, see Talk:Bryant_&_Stratton_College/Archive_2#For-profit_status. IP has stated they will continue edit warring here. • Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protectiontotemplate protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protectiononredlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: Page protection is not necessary here because this is an ongoing lawsuit and one side is attempting to make fact of ongoing proceedings in a biased manner. This needs to be removed so that actual fact can be cited through court rulings. Barbeach23 (talk) 15:19, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

We don't cite court rulings here (gov't document). We would need to cite newspapers that report about those rulings. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 15:45, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

+1 Reason: There is no need to protect this page. Changes are being made to the page by one of the parties to the ongoing lawsuit that are advantageous and biased. These modifications need to be removed and that cannot be done while the page is protected. Barbeach23 (talk) 19:40, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

Declined Did you ask Lectonar, who just protected it today? I think a one-week protection is appropriate and you can discuss changes on the talk page. – Muboshgu (talk) 19:47, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

    [edit]

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

    Request edit

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    [edit]

I wish to contest the following line in the article: "Cheatle also acknowledged that the Secret Service had rebuffed requests for additional resources for Trump's security detail in the two years leading up to the assassination attempt." First, this line has no footnotes to reference it's origin. Looking through the sites linked in the footnotes previous to this line and the line following it, nothing indicates the veracity of that statement. Instead, one can see lawmakers trying to infer this conclusion during her Congressional testimony regarding the attempted assassination of former President Trump, while she denies it. 2601:547:CA01:3C4E:8BC:6A39:2650:79D4 (talk) 09:27, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

Joe Roe, you declined this previously. Do you want to have another look? Schwede66 06:42, 24 June 2024 (UTC)

    Joe Roe, I appreciate it. Thanks for looking into my request. — C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 09:47, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
C1K98V, I've had a look at your last five articles. They are generally clean, if short. What makes you think, though, that cast lists don't need references? That appears to be a problem with every article that you produce. Schwede66 22:39, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Hi @Schwede66, I hope you're doing well. Thank you for your feedback. I understand and value the importance of verifiability. I apologize to you for not including references in the cast section. I will fix my past creation. Moving forward, I will ensure doing the same. I assure you that you won't regret it. Thanks for your consideration C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 02:43, 23 July 2024 (UTC)

I have been contributing to Wikipedia for some time now and have made numerous constructive edits, focusing mainly on Global South topics. I believe that having autopatrolled rights would help streamline my contributions by reducing the workload for the reviewing editors and ensuring quicker article updates.

I have read and understand Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, including those on notability and reliable sourcing. I am committed to maintaining high standards of content quality and adhering to community norms.

If you could consider granting me autopatrolled rights, I would greatly appreciate your consideration. Thanks. 12eeWikiUser (talk) 09:35, 22 July 2024 (UTC) 12eeWikiUser (talk) 09:35, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

I'm sorry but as a third of the articles you created have been deleted so far, they will need to be patrolled for the foreseeable future.  Not done. – Joe (talk) 10:17, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
    [edit]

Applying for the right as my edits were rationale. I have undergone all the criterions and I fit in all. I am well aware about Star Missispi and Joe Roe's earlier declines, but now I am fully washed and proved myself eligible for the right. From AFD/CSD to AfC reviews, and developing a handful of drafts for acceptance, I can now proudly say that I am eligible for the role. Twinkle1990 (talk) 15:32, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

So what MusikBot? What's your problem?? Can't an user improved against AI bot like you? Twinkle1990 (talk) 15:47, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Uh.... that just auto replies showing recently declined requests. I'm really not sure what you think responding to the bot will do. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:37, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
I don't believe I've ever declined a request from autopatrolled from you, Twinkle1990. You had the right revoked by Star Mississippi in June 2023 and subsequent requests for it were denied by Novem Linguae.[2] Hey man im josh,[3] and Rosguill.[4] That last time (two months ago) Rosguill told you it was more of a "never" than a "not now".  Not done and please do not ask again, it is becoming disruptive. – Joe (talk) 15:53, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
@Joe Roe you are an involved admin. Can you please left over to non-involved Admins? Why you are everywhere? User Maximilian Janisch treated you fine while you hammered his article and profile here. Kindly don't abuse you admin POWER. Twinkle1990 (talk) 16:12, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) @Twinkle1990, observing this from the capacity as someone who is not an admin (but none the less a long-time editor), I'd suggest you may consider taking heed of Joe's advice and back away from this for a while (maybe until at least next year). I note in your rationale you consider yourself "suitable for the role", so one may wonder how well you understand what autopatrolled is (though I am sure you know it doesn't impact your editing ability). Bungle (talkcontribs) 16:52, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
Not done If it helps your peace of mind, here's something from another admin. Schwede66 22:42, 22 July 2024 (UTC)
As far as I can see my only interactions with you to date have been to participate in the ANI thread that led to the revocation of your rights and decline your request for NPR four months ago. As I was acting in an administrative role both times, that doesn't make me involved. – Joe (talk) 07:24, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
Good to see that ANI thread that was created by a Sock and commented by a few other sock users. No hard feeling. I won't apply again before 2006. Twinkle1990 (talk) 13:39, 23 July 2024 (UTC)

I would like to apply for the File mover right to rename files. I've been contributing on Commons for quite some time now, and I've been doing lots of good file renaming requests on Wikipedia. The file movers also appreciated my rename requests [5]. I'm a file mover and patroller on Commons, and I've moved over 1000 files so far. I have a good understanding of the renaming guideline, and I think it would be really helpful also having the right here. Thank you! Waqar💬 14:08, 21 July 2024 (UTC)

    Page mover

    [edit]

    [edit]

I have been editing for over 7 years and I plan on using this permission in order to help with discussions on WP:RM and deal with cross-redirects for articles that should have more disambiguated titles. KingSkyLord (talk | contribs) 12:46, 2 July 2024 (UTC)

I am requesting page mover rights to help close discussions at WP:RM, if a consensus is clear. – The Sharpest Lives (💬✏️ℹ️) (ping me!) 03:39, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

Not done No experience in this area. You don't need page mover rights to close requested move discussions, you can either limit yourself to cases where there isn't a conflict, or request a move at WP:RMTR after closing. * Pppery * it has begun... 00:55, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

I am a registered user with more than 6 months of experience and more than 3000 edits, I moved a lot of pages and have created the Requested move for the page Danilo Guades. (I also don't have blocks). 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 09:46, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

Not done Zero edits to WP:RMTR = no demonstrated need for the right. You've moved a bunch of pages with no conflict, and you can keep doing that without this permission. * Pppery * it has begun... 00:57, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

    Pending changes reviewer

    [edit] [edit]

Hey there! I'm ThatOneWolf, and, I know I've been here twice before, but those times I admit I didn't really get the whole idea of experience and stuff. Plus, my last request was months ago. I took a little break recently when I just was checking my talk page and watchlist, but now I've come back to editing.

Anyway, the reason I'm requesting Reviewer rights now is because I feel like I could help in that area, with most of my edits being vandalism reversions. I also feel I suitably warn editors when I think they are intending to vandalize, or just let them know if it seems they could be trying to help. I've read all the policies listed in Wikipedia:Reviewing pending changes, and am very familiar with the copyright laws. This is why I feel I would be more fit now to receive this right. Thanks for reading! -- ThatOneWolf (ChatEdits 12:18, 18 July 2024 (UTC)

I watch recent changes often for vandalism and problematic edits, and understand the difference between the two when reverting them. I've also reviewed the guidelines on reviewing pending changes. I hope this right can help me more effectively perform anti-vandal work. ADifferentMan (talk) 07:34, 20 July 2024 (UTC)

Hello, I am requesting pending changes review rights to improve my anti-vandalism work here on Wikipedia. I frequently revert instances of vandalism and am willing to assist with pending changes revisions. Thank you. doclys (❀) 14:28, 21 July 2024 (UTC)

Hey, I think I could review pending changes every now and then while I'm doing antivandalism patrolling. I've not been as active recently as I wish I was, but I think I can help in some little ways. The Night Watch (talk) 10:39, 24 July 2024 (UTC)

    Rollback

    [edit] [edit]

Hello! I am applying for the role of rollbacker, having been a Wikipedia user for over 10 years and being increasingly active in the last few years. In this vein, I feel that I have undone my fair share of vandalism and, being mainly focused on football/sports articles, vandalism and unconstructive/unsourced edits are very common in my area of interest and editing. I believe that these rights will be very useful in maximising the efficiency of my work on Wikipedia and will save me time from undoing separate edits individually. Additionally, I have past experience as an administrator on a Wikia project, where I made use of the rollback feature and have good knowledge of its positives and when to utilise it. Thank you for taking your time to review my request. Kind regards, Vasil3fonov (talk) 12:26, 20 July 2024 (UTC)

I see that you are failing to consistently warn editors when you revert their edits. Why? It's important to leave a notification for every revert you make. Are you aware that we have tools such as TwinkleorUltraviolet that make this extremely easy? -Fastily 01:53, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
Firstly, I must say I was not aware of the fact that you have to leave a message for every kind of blatant vandalism that is reverted. I usually do it in cases where the user is registered and appears to have used the account for more than a single edit, where they have also done multiple similar unconstructive edits. Secondly, I did not know what the tools were used for and, usually, when I leave messages regarding things such as vandalism, I do it manually. I will take a look at the tools and perhaps make a future request if I am able to work with them properly. If not, then I suppose I will just stick to my current flow of anti-vandalism work. Thanks, Vasil3fonov (talk) 05:39, 21 July 2024 (UTC)
Sounds good, closing as  Not done -Fastily 08:57, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

I regularly monitor the "recent change" feed now for about 2 months now, I actively warn users when I revert their edits thanks to twinkle and ultraviolet and actively report the clear vandals and spam accounts. I want to access the rollback rights to make reverting easier as I have slow internet. Warm Regards, Miminity (talk) (contribs) 11:15, 21 July 2024 (UTC)

I actively warn users who vandalize/disrupt the pages using Twinkle as well as report them to ARV either after final warning or when an account is clearly for vandalism only, but sometimes I assume good faith just leave a note on their talk page. Hello, I would like to request rollback rights to quickly enhance the process of reviewing RecentChanges. For over a month, I have been patrolling RecentChanges and using Ultraviolet and Twinkle to revert and warn users. Thank you. doclys (❀) 14:26, 21 July 2024 (UTC)

Very active in counter vandalism (very likely have over 1000 reverts at this point), have rollback on simple, do X wiki counter-vandalism as well. Think rollback would be helpful. Read and understood WP:Rollback and meet the guidelines above. Me Da Wikipedian (talk) 17:14, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
