Please remember that:

Distance Education[edit]

Stuck

Thank you 4twenty42o for giving to me an opportunity to share my view point. The article talks about growth in distance education. Somehow it missed references to the Indian scenario, where it has made tremendous growth and contributions over the last 50 years.... As a distance educator with over three decades of experience, without hiding my true identity, I am trying link a compilation first of its kind in the Indian context for `further readings'. I hope you will find it worthwhile and reconsider your decision. .. Thank you Ravi K Mahajan (talk) 12:49, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you 4twenty42o for making so many things clear to me.. I understand that my enthusiasm to share, of my own , the `chronology of growth of distance education in India' (where it has just completed 50 yr) with larger group has been seen as a self-advertising activity. ..Well so far I have been an active user of wiki.. and now I want to contribute... You have given me some valuable links.. BUT in this case I feel I shall be cool .. and may be in future you will find my compilation effort (the link) worth sharing with larger community. .. regards......Ravi K Mahajan (talk)(22:43, 19 March 2013 (UTC)) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.50.38.49 (talk) [reply]

New section[edit]

Odd characters? What the hell are you talking about?? I don't see any odd character, please be more specific! [1] Besides, if you see anything wrong, you should fix it, NOT REMOVING IT!!! Anyway, I was trying to contribute in Wikipedia, but thanks to the likes of you, I have decided to stop. Good job — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.26.4.117 (talk) 07:49, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just because you copied something from the internet does not mean it is correct. Since you are trying to contribute why don't you first talk like an adult (presumably you are one), try not to let something as simple as a warning get you bent out of shape, and discuss with me the mistake i made versus getting childishly worked up and cursing the way you have. i am not one to shy from the words fuck or hell but i do not use those words when conversing with my fellow editors. regards 4twenty42o (talk) 07:56, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stephen Marcus[edit]

I intervened. Just so you know, people are allowed to use their real names as usernames (I should certainly be a case in point) and cannot be blocked for that even if they edit the articles about themselves in a COI fashion. Daniel Case (talk) 15:48, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Understood and thanks for stepping in. I will stop in and acknowledge this on users talk page. regards 4twenty42o (talk) 15:51, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

VN[edit]

They are Han Chinese and they served as Chinese's officials in an Chinese territory.--113.168.102.62 (talk) 22:12, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think English Wikipedia need to use Chinese spellings for Chineses peoples and Chinese places, not Vietnamese spellings. --113.168.179.132 (talk) 14:39, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Western North Carolina[edit]

Sorry for not explaining why I removed that information from the Western North Carolina page. I did so because, as someone with a fair amount on knowledge on east coast/Appalachian geography, I knew that it was factually incorrect. No part of the Tennessee Valley (which is itself a part of the Great Appalachian Valley) lies within the bounds of NC. It is entirely in Tennessee. The Tennessee Valley Authority does cover a small amount of Western NC and the "Tennessee Valley" moniker in general is used to an extent in those far western counties, but only due to sheer proximity and regionalism. Just a quick look at Google Maps satellite imagery makes it clear that the valley is completely geographically west of North Carolina. Those extreme western extents are part of the Great Smoky Mountains (which are a subset of the Blue Ridge Mountains). While this information was incorrect, what remained in the geography section (which is still severely lacking) seemed sound to me. If you have any questions, please ask away. Sorry for any confusion. Next time I'll explain my edits. 98.239.148.245 (talk) 05:35, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there,

I'm amending my father in law's date of birth on the

Jimmy Jackson (footballer born 1932)

page. It tells me that you have amended it back, although I am new to Wikipedia so not sure if I'm looking at the right revision. Can you let me know if this is right and if so are we talking about the same Jimmy (Notts County player, died 2 March this year) because this one was definitely born on 26 March 1931. I made a cake for his 80th!

Kind regards,

Sally Jackson — Preceding unsigned comment added by Salsajax (talkcontribs) 09:39, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. --JasonMacker (talk) 23:05, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am not going to play into that crap. It is blatant vandalism but not worth arguing about. - 4twenty42o (talk) 00:15, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

new section[edit]

Good job reverting IP113 and 123, this person uses multiples IP addresses to avoid 3RR rule. So please semi block for about a month the two pages that we have reverted this IP's edits too. Thank. ༆ (talk) 16:33, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot protect anything but i will request page protection. - 4twenty42o (talk) 16:35, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I requested page protection due to edit-warring and sock/meatpuppetry. I would suggest you leave it be as well though for now. Edit-warring is a serious thing around here. - 4twenty42o (talk) 16:44, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
༆ is a nationalist member. English Wikipedia need to use Chinese spellings for Chinese peoples and Chinese places, not Vietnamese spellings. --123.17.228.119 (talk) 16:46, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I do not care what he is.. All of you need to discuss further changes as opposed to edit-warring over it. Engage the editor in a discussion on the articles talk page and stop violating our policies regarding wp:sock, wp:editwar and wp:3rr. - 4twenty42o (talk) 16:50, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Eg, Zhao Tuo is a Han Chinese and most territory of his kingdom belong China, English Wikipedia can not use Vietnamese spelling for his name. --123.17.228.119 (talk) 16:54, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you kindly :) - 4twenty42o (talk) 01:44, 25 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Request for information[edit]

Hi. I have mentioned a discussion you were having about someone else at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Youtubek; now they want more information.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 13:06, 27 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Cheng (entrepreneur) article notability[edit]

Noticed you chimed in on this article :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Cheng_(entrepreneur) I noticed it a while ago, and it seems like the guy himself might be tooting his own horn. The majority of the edits are from an IP address close to where it says he's from, and there's an oddly high amount of detail on awards the person has won without any actual content.

Also the history shows that article was rejected several times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Vancitystars

Until it was finally approved for some reason.

I'm not such a big editor, but this strikes me as an article that might be a candidate for deletion. Not exactly sure how it works. CrocodilesAreForWimps (talk) 07:35, 28 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mussolini picture removal[edit]

I removed the offensive picture because in the Wikipedia guidelines it states that:

"Offensive material should be used only if its omission would cause the article to be less informative, relevant, or accurate, and no equally suitable alternative is available."

There is already a picture of him being publicly hanged. Do we need ANOTHER image of his dead body beside his wife with his face all caved in like that? I felt like that picture added nothing to the article, especially since there is already a picture of his dead body on the same page. Delphi00 (talk) 19:47, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think adding a tag would automatically make the article reviewed. The message above was send automatically when I un-reviewed it, I guess. Myxomatosis57 (talk) 08:27, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Skywalker (disambiguation)[edit]

Please review this revert. Thanks. 92.41.226.162 (talk) 16:22, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I removed two items, here and here, and explained why in the edit summaries. All the other changes are to the way the remaining items are formatted and are in line with MOS:DAB. 92.41.226.162 (talk) 17:08, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi[edit]

Thanks for the welcome. I've also been editing Wikipedia for several years. This is my third (?) account. I'm not very good at remembering passwords. :P Shiningroad (talk) 04:40, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why is it considered bad practise?[edit]

And I have done. Shiningroad (talk) 04:50, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

BLP[edit]

[2]. I'm amazed anyone would re-add those edits. Please consider carefully in the future why someone might be removing content, and check the content before restoring. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 17:56, 17 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for April 18[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Page Moseley, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page BFA (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:27, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello[edit]

I wanted to reach out to you, and see what I would need to do to have you withdraw your nomination for the Proven (company) being deleted. I've made a few edits, and figured it was worth reaching out to you. I'm relatively new to Wikipedia, and thank you for your time.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
