Wikipedia:索引は、ウィキペディア日本語版の記事の索引です。 Wikipedia:索引では原則的に全ての﹁記事﹂を扱います。加えて、Help:記事とは何かにおいて﹁記事名前空間にあるが、記事に含まれないページ﹂とされている、﹁曖昧さ回避のためのページ﹂や﹁リダイレクトに使われるページ﹂も掲載対象とします。索引に掲載する項目名は、その項目名で記事が存在するものに限られます。項目名が正式な表記ではないなどの場合にも、パイプを使わないで下さい。索引は項目名の読みの五十音順︵あいうえお順︶に並んでいます。掲載順序の詳しい規則は#凡例を参照して下さい。なお、索引の作成作業は手動で行われるため、リアルタイムの適用にはなっていない︵不完全である︶点に注意してください。そのような点︵記事があるのに索引に無いなど︶に気が付いた方は、他のページと同様に自由に修正してください。

索引の分割について[編集]

●索引ページの分量が肥大化した場合、分割を行うことができます。 ●分割の基準は、分割先・分割元の双方が概ね300項目以上となることを目安にしてください。 ●基準の項目数を満たしている場合は、索引ページに限り、ノートでの分割提案を告知せずに分割を実施できます。それ以外の手順はWikipedia:分割に従ってください。 ●基準未満だが分割が必要と思われる場合は、明確な理由を添えてWikipedia‐ノート:索引に分割提案を告知してください。 ●明らかに基準を満たさず分割を実施した場合、差し戻しを受ける場合があります。 ●基準値に達したからといって機械的に分割を行うのではなく、細分化しすぎないよう、分割の必要性を十分に検討してください。 ●分割作業後、#かな節または#記号・英数字節と、Template:索引 ○行を編集し、分割先へのリンクを設置してください。また分割元ページの該当箇所には、分割先を指して{{See|Wikipedia:索引 ○○}}を置いてください。
