マリヌス・アントン・ドンク

マリヌス・アントン・ドンク︵Marinus Anton Donk、1908年8月14日 – 1972年9月2日︶はオランダの菌類学者である。菌類の分類学、学名の命名法の分野で働いた。

略歴[編集]


東ジャワのシトゥボンドに生まれた。オランダに戻り、ハーグの高校を卒業して、ユトレヒト大学で生物学を学んだ。オランダの異型担子菌綱︵Heterobasidiomycetes︶の研究を行い、1933年に博士号を得た。その後ジャワに戻り、教師として働いた後、1941年からボゴール植物園の標本館の学芸員として働いた。第二次世界大戦中は3年間、日本軍の捕虜収容所ですごし、収容者のために酵母を培養し、ビタミンの不足を補った[1][2]。

1944年に植物園から独立したボゴール標本館︵Herbarium Bogoriense︶の館長を1947年から1955年の間務め、1952年にインドネシア大学の助教授になった。菌類の分類学的研究や命名法の専門家となり、アメリカの菌類学者、ロルフ・シンガーは追悼文で、﹁近代菌類学の傑出した人物の一人︵one of the most outstanding figures of contemporary mycology︶﹂と評した[1]。オランダに戻った後、1956年から1980年までライデンの王立植物標本館︵Rijksherbarium︶の菌類部長を務め、オランダ王立芸術科学アカデミーの会員にも選ばれた[2][3]。1959年に同僚のヘーステラヌス︵Rudolph Arnold Maas Geesteranus︶と菌類の分子系統学の雑誌、"Persoonia" を創刊した。国際植物会議の命名委員会︵Nomenclature Committee of the International Botanical Congresses︶で重要な役割を果たした。
