ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:01, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

[edit]

Arecently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

History of the Finnish Air Force from 1944-1960

[edit]

Howdy. I was made aware of an article you recently created the other day and have been wondering about it since. It struck me as being highly niche (as the history of the Finnish air force in a seemingly arbitrary timespan rather than just overall) and, as the article totally lacks citations, worrisome to have in mainspace. Do you plan to continue working on the article? –♠Vami_IV†♠ 23:01, 28 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/History of the Finnish Air Force from 1944-1960 until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

How we will see unregistered users

[edit]

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribetothe weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Bofors 75 mm Model 1935 moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Bofors 75 mm Model 1935, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. RK 62 and RK 62 76 differences

[edit]

Hi, I noticed your edit on the List of equipment of the Finnish Army concerning the RK 62, and remembering similar mistakes about the variants from you, I decided to leave this message to your talk page. You named the milled receiver RK 62 with the later version front handguard and pistol grip as the RK 62 76, while the latter name is used solely for the stamped receiver rifles; you can identify the RK 62 76 from the rivets on the front and rear ends of the receiver, and from the absence of the lightening cut around the magazine well. The change of the plastic furniture in the milled receiver rifles is not reflected in the nomenclature, both the old and new furniture milled receiver rifles are called the RK 62. Please refer to the FDF Rynnäkkökiväärin käsikirja if you wish to do such edits, it has the correct nomenclature and explains the differences between the variants of the RK 62 in depth. --XoravaX (talk) 00:52, 9 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least a 12-month period OR

Administrators at risk for being desysopped under these criteria will continue to be notified ahead of time. Thank you for your continued work.

Your draft article, Draft:Bofors 75 mm Model 1935

[edit]

Hello, MoRsE. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Bofors 75 mm Model 1935".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been deleted. If you plan on working on it further and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. Liz Read! Talk! 18:07, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Future Transport Helicopter has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Single source, no other evidence of notability. Germany held a competition for a heavy lift helicopter between CH-53K and CH-27F, and the latter was selected.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Correction to previous election announcement

[edit]

Just a quick correction to the prior message about the 2022 MILHIST coordinator election! I (Hog Farm) didn't proofread the message well enough and left out a link to the election page itself in this message. The voting will occur here; sorry about the need for a second message and the inadvertent omission from the prior one. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 17:41, 15 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

BT-42 hits T-34 18 times

[edit]

Hello! I am going down a rabbit hole trying to figure out where a story of a BT-42 originates. It claims that at the defense of Vyborg a BT-42 hit a T-34 (Sometimes, specifically a T-34-85 or IS-2) eighteen times without disabling the tank. After looking, the first time this was mentioned on Wikipedia and currently the earliest reference I can find was an edit to the article made by you. I know it's been many years now, but would you happen to remember where you had heard of this story? Melty (talk) 02:45, 22 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It certainly has been a while but I wonder if it was from this page. It could also have come from the book "Suomalaiset panssarivaunut, 1918-1997" (The Finnish armoured vehicles, 1918-1997) by Esa Muikku. I actually have that book somewhere here and I can try to look for the passage about the assault gun. This page also have some additional information: link MoRsE (talk) 21:41, 26 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

AN/APG-85 moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, AN/APG-85, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. Curious about an edit you made a loooooooooooooooong time ago

[edit]

I wouldn't be surprised if you don't remember because I also really struggle to remember stuff from...2007. But there's an article on the soviet/russian SPG 2S5 Giatsint-S. I was reading it and noticed that the quantities that the russia currently has wasn't sourced. I also just learned how to search and find out the progenitor of a certain phrase in an article is (you can see from my lack of a username that I'm quite new) and noticed that you added this 16 years ago.

I know it's a long shot but any chance you might remember where you might've gotten that figure?

Cheers! 162.154.240.33 (talk) 10:57, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was using a lot of The Military Balance as a source at the time, so I suspect the numbers might have come from one of those editions. I don't have access to them anymore. MoRsE (talk) 17:52, 1 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
