On20 August 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Julie Wera, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that reports of Julie Wera's (pictured) death were greatly exaggerated? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Julie Wera. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Julie Wera), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Hey, I disagree with your decision to not undelete my draft. I provided plenty of legitimate, independent feature news articles about the company and product and kept a neutral, unbiased tone throughout. Many of our competitors are also on Wikipedia, so why can we not create this page? Here are multiple examples: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SolarWinds , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datto_(company) , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ConnectWise_Control
I am employed by the company, as I've properly disclosed. I would appreciate greater elaboration as to how my article on NinjaRMM can be accepted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ITninja2020 (talk • contribs) 16:10, August 19, 2021 (UTC)

Hi Muboshgu. I noticed you recently warned KidAd about edit-warring over captions, and they seemed to agree to stop. However, they're again edit-warring over it at Pete Buttigieg (see [1], [2]). This is actually something that they've been doing for many months, before your warning. ― Tartan357 Talk 02:53, 23 August 2021 (UTC)
Cosby in 2010. I think the more concerning issue here is Tartan's obsession with
official caption, year, which is not mentioned anywhere in MOS:CAPLENGTH.
Buttigieg in 2021as the caption. That would be correct per MOS:CAPLENGTH. Just stop trying to make
official portrait, yeara thing. It isn't a thing.

I just got off a plane so I'll add just one thing here. Tartan357 is right that this is a conduct issue. KidAd, I am glad that you self-reverted, but if you continue this crusade against captions that are in line with MOS:CAPLENGTH, the conduct will be elevated to the appropriate noticeboard. – Muboshgu (talk) 05:37, 23 August 2021 (UTC)

Well, I came to you for a reason. If you thought my edit was worth it, I'd create the discussion, but if you thought it was unnecessary I wouldn't bother. That's all I wanted but I have another question.
A few months ago, right after I created my user box, this smaller box appeared at the bottom of the page that said, "other users who have seen Lost, other users who are Gay" and stuff like that. Few weeks ago, it disappeared. I was wondering if you knew how that works because I was interested in searching for other Gay users like myself just for fun. I asked this same question to the same user who reverted my edits and he just deleted my question. lol Lostfan333 (talk) 00:09, 24 August 2021 (UTC)

The fourth round of the competition has finished with over 500 points being required to qualify for the final round. It was a hotly competitive round with two contestants, The Rambling Man and
Epicgenius, each scoring over 3000 points, and six contestants scoring over 1000. All but one of the finalists achieved one or more FAs during the round, the exception being
Bloom6132 who demonstrated that 61 "in the news" items produces an impressive number of points. Other contestants who made it to the final are
Gog the Mild,
Lee Vilenski,
BennyOnTheLoose,
Amakuru and
Hog Farm. However, all their points are now swept away and everyone starts afresh in the final round.
Round 4 saw the achievement of 18 featured articles and 157 good articles. Bilorv scored for a 25-article good topic on Black Mirror but narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final round. There was enthusiasm for FARs, with 89 being performed, and there were 63 GARs and around 100 DYKs during the round. As we start round 5, we say goodbye to the eight competitors who didn't quite make it to the final round; thank you for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia, and we hope you will join us again next year. For other contestants, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.
If you are concerned that your nomination, whether it be for a good article, a featured process, or anything else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to help keep down the review backlogs! I came to you a while ago about the "Black face of White Supremacy" comments against Elder and I was disappointed with your answer. Ever since you caught me making "bad" edits, I always think about you before I make an edit, and I need you now again. This time I created a discussion on the issue because recent edits only contain negative things Elder has said, and not things said to him.
Recently, edits about Race have been added so I request the controversy with 3 sources and User Tarzan357 says they're not reliable while User Banana Republic says go ahead and add my request through an edit summary.
This time, I really want your take on this. Can I add the information or not?? Otherwise, I just feel dull about everything. I need you, please. Lostfan333 (talk) 01:41, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello, Muboshgu,
I watch a ridiculous amount of TV news and I wanted to let you know that some major TV networks (ABC, CBS) and some newspapers like the LA Times are reporting elements of his death that you have been revision deleting. I don't want to say anything specific, lest you delete my comments, but while I applaud you standing up for BLP, I think it's a matter of time before reliable sources like the NY Times and Washington Post also report it as well...not the cause of death but the circumstances surrounding his death. Just wanted to give you a head's up. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 03:14, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
In the case of public figures, there will be a multitude of reliable published sources, and BLPs should simply document what these sources say. If an allegation or incident is noteworthy, relevant, and well documented, it belongs in the article—even if it is negative and the subject dislikes all mention of it. If you cannot find multiple reliable third-party sources documenting the allegation or incident, leave it out.
The death is being investigated as a possible drug overdose, the police said, and the city’s medical examiner was to determine the cause..

Hello, Muboshgu,
There is an article, You Better Believe It, that was PROD'd yesterday. On the tag, there is a big, bright message stating that the PROD is invalid because it was the subject of an AFD. But when I looked at the previous AFD, it was for a blog and the article now is about a musical album, same name, different subjects. Since I noticed that you frequently handle PRODs, I was wondering if anything needed to be done about this. I can't find a way to remove the warning message but since the only thing in common between the two things is the name, I assume the PROD is still valid.
So, what do you think, just leave it be? Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 20:18, 14 September 2021 (UTC)

The African/non-human primate trope is well known (I assume you don't dispute that), and multiple reliable sources have reported on the incident. There's even video. I know one of your regular activities is evaluating PRODs and I wanted to alert you that tomorrow there are 129 coming due, most around the hour of 17:00 UTC. I noticed this was going to happen last week and have since asked the editor, Elli, to please try and not to tag so many at once since they have to be examined individually. Recently, we've had about 15-40 PRODs a day so this is a huge increase. Of course, they can be handled after their expiration time which is what will probably happen but if you have any admin talk page stalkers, maybe they could offer a hand as well. Thanks! Liz Read! Hello — Preceding unsigned comment added by Swappaty (talk • contribs) 12:17, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Actually…never mind. I went to the protection request page and I got some partial protections put on the page for a week. Hopefully the deal and the announcement will be in by that time. GoWarriors151718 (talk) 07:09, 29 October 2021 (UTC)

The WikiCup is over for another year and the finalists can relax! Our Champion this year is The Rambling Man (submissions), who amassed over 5000 points in the final round, achieving 8 featured articles and almost 500 reviews. It was a very competitive round; seven of the finalists achieved over 1000 points in the round (enough to win the 2019 contest), and three scored over 3000 (enough to win the 2020 event). Our 2021 finalists and their scores were:
All those who reached the final round will win awards. The following special awards will be made based on high performance in particular areas of content creation and review. Awards will be handed out in the next few days.
Congratulations to everyone who participated in this year's WikiCup, whether they made it to the final round or not, and particular congratulations to the newcomers to the WikiCup, some of whom did very well. Wikipedia has benefitted greatly from the quality creations, expansions and improvements made, and the numerous reviews performed. Thanks to all who have taken part and helped out with the competition, not forgetting User:Jarry1250, who runs the scoring bot.
If you have views on whether the rules or scoring need adjustment for next year's contest, please comment on the WikiCup talk page. Next year's competition will begin on 1 January. You are invited to sign up to participate; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to see you all in the 2022 competition. Until then, it only remains to once again congratulate our worthy winners, and thank all participants for their involvement! Hello Muboshgu,
Hope all is well. I work for the Bob Feller Act of Valor Award Foundation as an intern and have been tasked with maintaining upkeep of our Wikipedia page. I have been seeking to include a reference on our award winners and 37 Hall of Fame awardees wiki pages under the Career highlights and awards sections of their respective pages. I notice you have reverted a lot of them and am curious what your advice would be to ensure that these edits are okay to be made to their pages. If you have any advice on how to properly do so I am open to advice and constructive criticism.

Hello.
I meant to say thank you for the info on the use of "transgendered." Noted.
Regarding common names and page titles, it really does feel as though we have perplexingly inconsistent treatment across the project. It occurred to me when revisiting redirects such as heart attack and Zoloft. Maybe there's some esoteric exception for medical terms, who knows. :-)
But what really boggles my mind is that the user interface here now says "watch this page [ permanent ]" instead of "permanently". --MZMcBride (talk) 22:22, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
So because I'm having an issue with one person, or probably another one, that is undoing my edits for no reasonalbe grounds, I'm subject to being blocked despite my genuine and honest contributions. I doubt you even went through my comment above, to come and be threatening me like this. Anyway I'm just trying to contribute to society, so please don't threaten me, OK. All I have been doing is help. You can even go through my edit history and even on Commons and see how much I have contributed here. I'm just really disappointed, especially the way you handlle issues as an administrator. Hassanjalloh1 (talk) 18:08, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
I understand all this, and I posted a lengthy explanation to justify my edits - I doubt you even read through it. But I don't have much to say anymore. You're the administrator here... Hassanjalloh1 (talk) 18:18, 16 November 2021 (UTC)
I'm glad you try to understand my point of view. I was never doing it because I thought it was fashionable. My reasons were genuine. I did it, I tested it and it worked, and then I decided to apply it across, then one editor took it as "spamming". Like I said, I don't have much to do about it, because it was just one person, or probably two, that was actually undoing all my edits throughout. It was not like many people where againast it. Well sometimes you just try as best as you can. Thanks for the concern. Hassanjalloh1 (talk) 18:43, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

I included three RS explicitly describing Paul Gosar as "far right," but Bill Williams produced ten RS that do not explicitly describe Gosar as such. Is that lack of a descriptor considered the same as saying he's not "far right," and thus the ten sources prevail and the three sources should be removed? Or should the ten RS be treated as silent and neutral on the issue, and the three RS should remain? If 1000 sources don't mention Biden is a moderate Democrat for every one that does, should we not call him a moderate Democrat? soibangla (talk) 21:54, 16 November 2021 (UTC)

You reverted one of their recent edits at Bill Clinton; I've recently reverted another, and they've now made a third similar POV-pushing change (the text is totally different in each case). This is pretty much in keeping with all of their other edits, which are either completely pointless additions of section-headings or POV-pushing. (I've reverted a large number of their edits at other pages, as well.) Advice on how to proceed would be welcome. --JBL (talk) 22:07, 28 November 2021 (UTC)

Per this Chicago Sun-Times article, now linked in the relevant Wiki entry, the $1.4 billion in contract signings yesterday was an MLB record – could be a good hook for the DYK entry if slightly rephrased. After going 0-for his first-11, Mumphrey put together a modest eight game hitting streak. Playing the San Francisco Giants on July 6, Mumphrey went 4-for-5 with three runs and an RBI.[5] The next day, Giants pitcher John Montefusco faked a throw to third, and spun around to pick Mumphrey off first base. Instead of being tagged out, Mumphrey got in a rundown, allowing Mike Tyson to score from third. Mumphrey was also safe at second.[6]and was questioning why we would have two sentences on an eight-game hitting streak, and then two sentences on a routine rundown. Hello, Muboshgu,
I've started to look over expiring drafts and deleting ones that appear to be an attempt at creating a social media profile like you'd see on Facebook. They aren't article drafts in any way shape or form, but they also aren't really "advertising". They appear to be the result of a very new editor not knowing what an encyclopedia is or what it is for.
The article title is always their name and they have information like their parent's names, their high school and what they want to do after their schooling. So, they have autobiographical information like you would have on a Linked In or Facebook profile but they are often the editor's only edit on Wikipedia. So, somewhere they got the idea that they should create a personal Wikipedia page. I've marked them both as "test edits" and "promotional". If there is even a hint of an actual draft of an article, I leave it to be deleted via G13. I sincerely doubt that any of these editors will return and make a request at WP:REFUND for the return of their draft but I wanted to mention doing this to the admins who regular patrol REFUND in case you come across this combination of deletion rationales. I wish we had a CSD rationale of "attempt at a social media profile page" but we don't so this is my temporary solution. If you have strong objections to this approach, let me know. They just don't seem like pages that should be restored as regular G13s because they aren't article drafts that will ever be moved to main space.
Thanks and I hope you have a great holiday season! Liz Read! Talk! 02:52, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

In my view this is serious enough for an Epstein topic ban or even a wider BLP ban. What do you think I should do? Should I take it to BLPN or ANI? I've posted on article talk so far, but the offending editor isn't active. starship.paint (exalt) 10:23, 23 December 2021 (UTC)

On 26 December 2021, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article Desmond Tutu, which you nominated. If you know of another recently created or updated article suitable for inclusion in ITN, please suggest it on the candidates page. PFHLai (talk) 08:09, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
Hi. Why you formally closed the discussion (although people keep editing that section)? You flagged my topic as censure attempt but I wasn't talking about deleting any contents. Are you sure you aren't censuring me instead? I wasn't even started. And frankly I haven't so much time to spend here. Wiki things should be simple, that was the philosophy. --82.61.191.160 (talk) 22:43, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
I'm referring to this talk page discussion[18] with Grutness. He is overcategorizing sportspeople by city categories on a massive scale. Take for instance, Jerry Kindall. He puts them in Baseball players from Saint Paul, Minnesota but leaves them in Sportspeople from Saint Paul. Why? Because they were some form of coach or manager. Grutness has also done this for sportspeople who were annnouncers or writers and in one case[19] a golf architect. He's done this hundreds of times, at least 3 other editors have reverted an edit or edits of his. Can something be done here?...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 23:54, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Otis Anderson Jr. until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.

I do not understand why my recent updates were reverted. You qoute "seems to be promotion" but that is not the case. Any updated I have made is concerning the music industry in which I monitor and am well educated in. The posts are not promotional, but are 100% true and factual an informational. I request that your changes to "Revert" be removed.
I live in a certain region and have knowledge of various music awards and information on Joe Exotic. The post concerning Joe Exotic is factual and shows that he is being represented by a promotional company called The Mississippi Music Project, which is a non-profit. The Wiki page lists his attorney and other associates concerned with his case, but you delete his promotional team?
I am not associated with The Mississippi Music Project in any way, but I have reported their awards and Hall of fame inductions, which are highly regarded in the music industry.
Please undo your changes.
Thank You. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JuneandElvis (talk • contribs) 13:58, December 28, 2021 (UTC)

If you’re going to revert acceptable comments made in good faith and not insulting anyone or anything, then you at least need to leave a good edit summary. There are lots of registered editors who leave comments post-closing, so there is no need to discriminate against IP editors. 2A00:23C7:2B86:9800:4952:A06:CC72:56F9 (talk) 23:34, 1 January 2022 (UTC)

On3 January 2022, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ralph Waldo Emerson Jones, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that even though Charles P. Adams meant to hire someone else, Ralph Waldo Emerson Jones remained at Grambling State University for 51 years? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ralph Waldo Emerson Jones. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Ralph Waldo Emerson Jones), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hello, Muboshgu,
Draft:Nazar Pankiv was eligible for a refund but you turned down the request. Is that because you judged the content of the draft to be unacceptable? I know there are a couple of admins who occasionally drop into WP:REFUND who regularly turn down valid G13 requests if they find the draft content lacking but it seems like you have been more accommodating to requests from editors wanting their drafts back. I was just surprised. Hope you are having a pleasant New Years weekend! Liz Read! Talk! 06:36, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Duffy Lewis you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of GhostRiver -- GhostRiver (talk) 19:20, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribetothe weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

The article Duffy Lewis you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Duffy Lewis for issues which need to be addressed. Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2022 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor you should be able to advance to at least the second round, improving your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page. Any questions on the rules or on anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page. Signups will close at the end of January, and the first round will end on 26 February; the 64 highest scorers at that time will move on to round 2. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Sturmvogel 66 (talk · contribs · email) and Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 14:37, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi I was wondering if its possible to get back the Cylex company page. I am a beginner Wiki editor and I want to do it right. I also understand that maybe I am not fully neutral about this topic but as I see nobody will ever want to create a wikipedia page about this.

The article Duffy Lewis you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Duffy Lewis for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Regarding your comment at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Xavier_Becerra "Criticism on health policy":
OK, fair point. I assumed that in order to go into the article, I would have to find WP:RS, preferably WP:MEDRS, supporting it. I used the word "blasted" for conciseness, and I wouldn't say that in Wikipedia's voice.
But this brings up one of my greatest annoyances in Wikipedia: That editors apply the opposite standards in different articles.
Could you look at this discussion in Irwin Redlener?
Here's the discussion in Talk:Irwin_Redlener [25] under "Proposed changes".
I think this is the same situation. It's a single opinion, from a source that isn't a WP:MEDRS or even accurate, in a WP:BLP, which the individual's assistant has asked WP to remove. I made what I think are good arguments based on WP policies and guidelines, but these editors just rejected them without really answering them, and outvoted me. Consensus is not a vote. It got too exhausting to pursue it any more, but now that I have an admin's attention, do you think that this paragraph also violates WP policies and guidelines?
(PS: I'm not sure of WP rules on notifying people when you discuss their edits with admins. Is there anything I'm supposed to do?) --Nbauman (talk) 20:28, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
